Amazon Customer: This was a help in giving the traveler a bit of an extra safety device when staying at hotels. It needs to be placed correctly at bottom of the door that has to be pushing in. The alarm is definitely loud and will draw attention from everywhere. Good for the money.

FishTech: Doorstop alarm is easy to use and very loud. It will wake you up if the alarm goes off. I've had friends get robbed in hotel rooms by hotel employees while they were sleeping. The handy little doorstop alarm would have prevented that from happening. Our units have a rubber bottom so they stick to tile and carpet floors and will prevent a door from being pushed open. This along with an additional door lock system will give you the best protection. I've purchased several for our own use and given them away as gifts. I just bought another one as a gift and if mine quit working I'd buy this one again. Very happy with this product.

Maria: The product is exactly as described! My door frame is little higher then the Door stop alarm but we put an extra little non slip pad and it works perfectly!!!
We have tried and it really stops the door and the alarm sound is loud enough, it makes my sleep nights a lot more relaxed!

I wish I had found this device years ago! I travel a lot for business and have had to stay in some not-so-safe hotels and motels. Once I put this alarm in place in front of the door, I sleep like a baby. It's excruciatingly loud and will scare off anyone who is looking for an easy target, and will definitely wake me up.

It's very lightweight and compact and I have yet to change the batteries in over a year of use. Highly recommend to anyone that likes peace of mind when staying in an unfamiliar or sketchy location.

Update January 2021: This little guy is still going strong over four years later. It’s travelled thousands of kilometres and provided me with countless nights of peaceful rest.

A quick tip: I make sure to pack it in a plastic sandwich container that seals firmly. (I like using a Starfrit “Lock and Lock” container in particular.) i also add a bit of paper towel as padding. That way, if my luggage is handled roughly or something leaks, my trusty alarm stays in perfect shape and doesn’t accidentally go off.

Janis Ian: I purchased this because I found myself staying in slightly dicey circumstances, alone for several weeks in a very large house with no nearby neighbors or working alarm system and more than 19 easily-broken-into doors and windows. After receiving it and hearing how loud it was, I also thought anyone breaking in and hearing it go off would assume there was an alarm system set, and possibly take off because of it.
Not as good as a serious door lock - the kind we had in New York when I was younger, that props up against the knob and literally prevents someone from opening the door - but small enough to pack and carry with you. If you stay in a lot of hotels and are a bit nervous about your door being opened, this is a good choice.
I'd give it five stars but for a few things that make it annoying for travel (which is, after all, what it's pitched for):
1. In order to get the battery out, you have to remove the non-skid bottom. That would be okay if the bottom attached with two regular screws (one top one bottom or center) so you could open them with a coin. However, the screw requires a tiny Phillips head screwdriver to get it out. So if you're traveling and want to make sure...

Jay: If you're asking if this thing is loud, the answer is #@$& YES!

I wouldn't want it to be ringing for too long. I just tested it quickly and it actually made my ears feel funny. It's a very sharp and loud alarm sound, so I think it will certainly startle and surprise any intruders and the sound immediately stops once pressure is taken off with no delay.

I wish the wedge wasn't so thick though because I can only fit about an inch of it under my door at home and I'm afraid that if someone were to give it a good shove it might just push the alarm out of the way and that would render it useless. The rubber bottom is not as "sticky" as I'd like it to be, so I don't know if it'll grip my floor very well if someone were to open the door. BUT for $12 it's better than nothing at all, and I guess in a pinch I could always grab the alarm and press it myself if I heard someone messing with my door. DO NOT let kids or pets play with or around this thing, they'll go deaf. NO JOKE! It's very very loud!

loveguitar: I bought several of these for our home and my mother's home. Super loud, and will stop or at least make it difficult for a door to be opened wide enough for an intruder to enter. I tested one out on my husband by placing it at the door he normally enters through. It stopped him, scared him and did just what I hoped it would do. He kind of got mad at me and hollered a few explicatives but it was worth it! We have one door that is on a raised threshold so I set the door stop alarm on a book and the door hits it squarely when opened just a little bitty bit. It's loud - ear piercing loud and that's good as it should scare the bejeebers out of a bad person. On doors that have windows through which the unwanted guest might peer through and see the doorstop, just by placing a light weight towel or papers over it disguises completely. They'll just think your a slob and leave newspapers on the floor.

My mom was thrilled with her doorstops. Anything to help parents stay safe is money well-spent.

Be aware of how all of your doors open since they won't do any good on doors that open to the outside. The 9 volt battery was a tad difficult to install but I'm not complaining. For my...
