Kevin: Tried this Winegard FlatWave FL6550A antenna and the 4 bay digiwave at the exact same location. The Winegard FlatWave FL6550A yielded 2 HD channels using TV channel scan. The 4 bay digiwave yielded 18 channels!!! (including the 2 picked up by the FL6550A) using the TV channel scan. This antenna may look good but is useless if you can't watch tv with it - buyer beware.

Amazon Customer: I live in Mississauga, and wanted to ditch Rogers cable TV. Rabbit ears just do not work. I was skeptical at first, but, if you are reading this now, many other purchasers have had great success. If your line of sight is to the West, you may not get the same signals as I do. This is NOT the fault of the antenna, it has to do with your location relative to the broadcast signals. Go to TV Fool and plug in your address, this service (free) will display the path of TV signals. My home has direct line of sight to the east, which is where the US based (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, FOX) come from. Locating the unit on a pole is a good idea, the higher the better. Another benefit of this unit is the compact size, and it is quite discrete in design. To my amazement, I can pick up 24 HD channels. Please also note the signals are NOT compressed, the pictures and sound are AMAZING!!!

If you are a sports fan, and want to see multiple games simultaneously, then, this is NOT a product for you. This product when packaged with streaming is a real alternative for cable cutters.

You will need to supply good quality cable wire to complete the hookup, and you will...

R. Merko: Purchased this antenna after reading reviews on Amazon.ca
The antenna is connected to a Tablo dual tuner PVR. I was previously using an Antennas Direct Clearstream 2V, and reception is comparable.
I live in a downtown Toronto highrise on the 17th floor, but on the north side of the building.
Most of the transmitters I want to receive are on the south side, so I've had to install the antenna close to the ceiling so that human bodies which act as insulators and impair reception are out of its line of sight.
The Winegard is physically much more compact, is esthetically more pleasing than the Clearstream 2V, and is similar in performance.
Either antenna can pick up local Toronto stations well when they are directed towards transmitters. Reception of Buffalo stations is variable depending on weather conditions. Humidity seems to reduce reception, so on humid days, or days when it rains or snows, digital reception from Buffalo is impaired.
I decided to become a cord cutter, as broadcast TV offers so little good content. I decided to say goodbye to monthly charges, and yes to a one-time investment that will give me reception of what little TV has...

GadgetGuy: My house is located about 40 miles from the major TV broadcast towers in Southern California, so I was concerned that I was pushing the advertised range of this antenna and might not receive any stations very well. Adding to the distance concern: I wanted to mount the antenna on my patio cover, which is only about ten feet above the ground, and there are a number of large trees nearby that might also affect reception.

To see if this location would work at all, I loosely fastened the antenna mast to the top of my patio cover with one lag screw, and pointed the antenna in the general direction of the TV station towers. I ran a 30' test cable straight to my TV, plugged in the power adapter and performed a channel scan on the TV (very important to do this, as I got nothing at all when I first switched the TV tuner from "cable" to "air"). Remarkably, with this quick and dirty test setup, I was able to receive far more stations than I had any right to expect -- all the major networks, independents and all their sub-channels, as well as a variety of other foreign language stations from the former UHF band that I have no interest in. Nearly all of them are in...

BAH: I was little bit hesitant about purchasing the Winegard FL6550A because this antenna is somewhat new and didn't have much amazon reviews. Some reviews were actually negative but I thought the negative reviews were somewhat unfair as one reviewer didn't even mount it and another reviewer was 70 miles away from the station. I actually thought how could a little 14" x 14" antenna compete with a huge yagi antenna. Is Winegard sacrificing performance for nice modern style?! Well, I took a chance and picked the Winegard FL6550A over the Winegard HD7694P antenna and Antennas Direct C2-V-CJM ClearStream antenna after considering the flatwave antenna comes with mount, mast, up to 60 mile range and comes with an amplifier. I am so happy with the performance of this antenna and I am so glad that I got this antenna from amazon purchase (solid signal) as I cut the cable cord.

Setup? On top of 2 story Long Island, NY house, grounded to 8 foot buried ground rod (scrape some paint off the antenna mount), used grounding block and 123 feet of coaxial cables were used as I had to split to 3 televisions. I bought a lot of mediabridge coaxial cables on amazon. The main...
