eRapta Backup Camera System with 9" Monitor and Digital Video Recorder

Gabriel HGabriel H: When I set out to build my dream campervan, I knew I wanted some kind of camera system to serve as as both a "dash cam", as well as give me the ability to see what's going on outside the van at night when I've got all the window covers up. After a lot of research, I settled on this Erapta system. I 100% made the right call.

The system is extremely simple to setup. I have it wired so that I can have it running 24/7 as a "CCTV" system..good for general security and in case something happens to the van, I have video footage. I installed the 4 cameras up on the roof rack and wired them down to the screen which I have with the rest of my campervan controls. Wiring the device into my electrical system was very easy. To extend the amount of footage I could buffer, I purchased a separate 256gb micro-SD cart, and the head module of this unit has no problems using it.

As for the cameras, they work great. No sealing issues, no issues with EMI. When they get dirty they can be a little hard to see in night-vision mode, but a quick cleaning restores the image quality. I can't really ding Erapta for that, since even the most expensive camera would have issues if dirt is on the...

Athena: Back story: We bought an earlier version of this 4 camera system approximately 2 years ago. This was for our RAM 2500 Promaster van we were upfitting as a camper van. There were no windows in the back or sides, so the camera system was a must. The camera system was great, except for 1 major flaw: the cameras were each enclosed in a housing with a glass cover, and condensation would form and stay for a long period of time (days), making the whole system virtually useless. We live in NC and are prone to weather conditions that form condensation. eRapta was extremely diligent, however, and sent replacement cameras in a timely, very courteous manner, but the replacements had the same flawed design.

Fast forward to the present: 09.20.23 - as noted begore, eRapta has worked diligently to make sure we are happy with their product. With this new, redesigned version, eRapta has really knocked it out of the park!I Gone is the old design with the enclosed camera behind a glass panel. The lens is directly exposed, and if there is a bit of moisture on the lens in the morning, it's just a matter of wiping it clear, just like you'd need to do for side mirrors. H Drake: I have not installed this system yet, I will update my review after installing and using all the functions as soon as possible. I spent a very long time searching for a good quality 4 camera system with a nice screen. I first saw some similar ones from creators on YouTube and looked them up, but the prices were a bit out of range for the feature set. I narrowed my search down to this 9" DVR with 4 cameras system as well as the 7" version from eRapta as well. The features like the quality night vision cameras, the robust connectors, HD screen at 9" in size, and the software that allows video feed to be flipped and rotated and recorded drew me to purchasing this product. This was all at a price I felt was a good chunk less than comparable offerings on Amazon. I wanted the screen to be a bit bigger than the 7" option since I plan on having all cameras on the display at once while driving. When I opened the box, I was immediately taken aback, as the quality far surpassed what I expected. The cables are thick and flexible with tough connectors and fuses where appropriate.
