smc78: I have always used some sort of Current products on my reef tanks from lighting to pumps.. This is the 3rd replacement wave maker I have purchased for my loop system as 2previously failed after 3-4 months.. The first 2 were the mid sized so i decided to go with these bigger pumps and run them at 3/4 speed rather than the mid sized at full speed hoping that I would help the life span.. The first one I bought is still working great but the second failed with in 4 months.. I called support and found many Have the same issues. I was advised to disassemble these pumps and soak in vinegar/hot water (50/50) for 30 minutes then rinse and reassemble every 3-6 months... So i gave it a try and continue to do so every 3 months and no more problems.. Besides the ecotech mp10 (which requires the same maintenance and cost 4x as much) these are still my favorite wave makers as they move a crazy amount of water.. My only advise besides keep them clean is on "wave mode" watch the water level for 10 minutes and each adjustment as these pumps will create a tsunami in your tank and push the top right off and surf it's way to the floor... Cool to see (at some one else's house...lol) ...

Joey: Product out of the box is great. Love the magnetic feature and the mulitdirectional ability. The app with Bluetooth connectivity makes it even better. Multiple settings to create a great environment for corals. I first started with just the lights and the Bluetooth hub. I soon upgraded to an extra light and 2 eflux pumps. I also purchased the wider mounts for my lights. My 75 gallon seapora tank would not fit standard current usa light mounts so I had to order the extra wide version.

In regards to the eflux failure. I ordered 2 in mid July 2021. Mid may 2022, my one failed. I took it apart and cleaned throughly but would still not start. I confirmed power by checking the green light on the power supply, confirming it was detected in the app, and cleaned again. Still no go.

I filed a warranty claim through the current usa website. I received the message everyone does to not expect a response within x hours.... Current said within 24hrs. I was shocked when 45 minutes later I received a response back asking for more info...

The agent that helped me... I'll have to go back through my email to find a name to complement.. asked very simple...

Adelyn: Ordered new
I opened the box and actually inspected the pump I noticed it had a chip on the side of the base. Now this worries me because the pump was 1. Supposed to be new and 2. Current USA pumps have bad reviews for reliability.
I don’t know what the future holds. I also don’t see my warranty card. So I’m worried.
UPDATE:
Upon connecting the pump to the loop system and running it as intended the pump did not start. I have been trying to reach customer support over the phone, no one is picking up. I sent them an email and am now awaiting a reply.

Update: I received an email regarding this and we were able to fix the issue with the pump. Loose connection. Bringing up the stars for customer service.

Amashane: These powerheades are great. Got 2 for my reefer 170 and they mame more than enough flow for the tank.

Zachary A. Ruck: I had a custom built 65g long tank. Wanted a long tank with a lot of surface area for corals and fish to swim. Tank is 5’ Long and the eflux pumps seemed perfect. I have the current lights on my tank and they work very well. Tank looks amazing.

But the pumps are ok at best. Pumps worked for 2 months before one stopped working. Easy warranty return. Second pump stopped working about 2 months later. Returned that as well. Now Only 4 months later both of the new pumps have stopped working. Dead. I tried changing ports, plugs, etc. nothing. Trying to decide if I want to reach out to Current again or just purchase a different pump. I had great luck with my old Vortex as it lasted 6 years in my old tank. Might rebuild it and get a second one. Expensive but they work and last a long time. It’s a shame these Current pumps do not last as they are a great concept.

Another issue with the 1050gph pumps. They are very small, thus to move a lot of water they must ramp up to a very high rpm. Bit of an annoying sound as it sounds like you have an underwater drone in your tank. I programmed mine to only go to 70% as I didn’t like the noise.

Also the...

Alexander CampbellAlexander Campbell: It’s a great wavemaker. You do require the wave manifold which is an extra piece, but I have 3 hooked up to it and they work flawlessly. The only thing is it does require a lot of wires.
