Cuisinart DCC-3200BKSP1 Programmable Coffee Maker with Perfectemp Technology

Fred E: I've been using Chemex pour over for a very long time and, frankly, was getting weary of the ritual every morning. While Chemex does make terrific coffee, it does take a while from beginning to drinking... So, I researched & settled on this Cuisinart. I need my coffee to be strong and hot and this one delivers. The bold setting works well and the temp of the coffee is quite hot. I like the ability to make the heater for the carafe hot, also. The sprayer in the coffee brewing section seems to work admirably, getting all the grounds involved. The clock & timers and very easy to use. I can't imagine why some folks have found them difficult. The coffee maker also fits on the counter w/ease, being a rather slim size for a 14 cup. BTW, as most know, 14 cups is really more like 6-7 mugs. The water level indicator is spot on. Overall, I'm very happy with this one & it's great to wake up to a fresh, hot pot of good coffee. Well done, Cuisinart!

R.J. Toronto: We bought this coffee to replace a 10 year old Cuisinart that finally broke after daily use. We used a spare and cheaper coffee maker for about a month. It didn't make as good a cup of coffee and didn't keep it hot. The new Cuisinart model makes great coffee - great flavour and hot. It has some really good features on it and has water filter. It is also very attractive in design and style. Love it. Hope it lasts 10 years like the old one. We will see.

Lynn: Fourth Cuisinart coffee pot over 25 years. Only one stopped working. Gave the others to my children who were getting ready for university. Hopefully the quality and life span of this one is as I expect and the cup of coffee tastes great.

Lia: I chose this specific model as I was tired of so many other coffeemakers whose coffee is already lukewarm by the time you fill your cup. I want it HOT. I don't want to have to microwave my coffee right after making it (and adding a splash of milk). This machine delivers. Nice, piping hot coffee, with a setting to keep the carafe hot after brewing. LOVE it! Also really easy to use, simple, intuitive buttons, I like that I can set the strength to "Bold". I see what others are saying about the lid on the carafe, but honestly, it's a minor thing, doesn't bother me. They should improve that on future models to a carafe lid that you can open/close with one hand, but for the tradeoff of really HOT coffee, I'm happy.

L. SnowL. Snow: We've replaced an older Cuisinart DCC-1200 with this DCC-3200. Since it's a popular line, I thought others might be interested in how they compare. (In the attached comparison photos, the 1200 is on the left and the 3200 is on the right):

Taste: Coffee in the 3200 is more flavorful. A new machine might be expected to be better, but I think they've gotten the flow and temperature of the brewing process better.
Temperature: The brewed coffee is much hotter. Both units have three temperature settings for the hot plate, but the settings on the 3200 are hotter.

Size and Capacity. The 3200 handles 14 cups compared to the 1200's 12 cups. Yet as you can see from the photos, they are the same height to fit on a counter. They seem to get the extra capacity by making the 3200 a little deeper from front to back. We've been surprised at how useful the extra capacity is.

Carafe: The new glass carafe is just like the old one, only larger. It pours nicely with or without the lid on it. The new lid works the same as the old one, popping off and on. (I read some complaints about the lid on an intervening model with a spring opening, but if so, they fixed that by going back...

Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer: After doing a LOT of research, I decided to order this coffee maker. Taking into account the negative reviews, my personal experience is a mix but mostly on the positive side.

Some of the reviews mention the plastic smell/taste. It WAS there but only for the first few pots. After the first few, it's totally gone. And regarding the quickness of how fast it makes coffee. It works well enough for me. It's done before I know it. It's got a lot of really nice features and it brews coffee hotter than any other coffee maker I have ever had. AND It's about the only one with this capacity in this price range.

I run filtered water and in combination with the in-machine charcoal filters, it makes a darn good cup. And by the way, I picked up a pack of these filters http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013H3UMEU and they work great. Plus, they are WAY less than the Cuisinart brand ones.

The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is for one reason. When you go to fill the water reservoir, the lid doesn't open far enough to use the coffee pot. You have to get real creative when you reach the end of the pour. Is that a deal killer? Not really, it's just a minor annoyance and the...
