The packaging is not protective in the slightest and leaves fragile spaces like the handles uncovered. In conjunction with that, Amazon doesn't use enough packaging to protect it from impact.
Received the item in great condition minus the small loop handle missing almost all the enamel. Doesn't hinder the function, but it might reduce the life span if rust starts to attack. Will likely just oil that part to avoid having to send it back and waiting more.

Fantastic piece of cookware. I suppose one could pay three times the amount for a fancy French brand, but I don’t know why. This thing is HEAVY and well enameled. Take it from the range top to the oven, or vice versa. Red color matches my other Crock Pot Artisan pieces. Slight negative? The factory packaging only covers the body of the pot and lid, leaving the long handle and helper handle exposed. As a result, my piece arrived with a slight scratch on the long handle. I’m not concerned as I actually use my cookware, and before long it will develop its own unique patina inherent to quality cookware. I only mention this to warn those who see cookware as a decoration about the possibilities. Otherwise, Crock Pot Artisan continues to impress with their quality and value. Highly recommended.

After extensive research on the best affordable Dutch oven-like options, I bought this pan and I’m happy I did! I decided to go for this size because I’m mostly cooking for two people, I didn’t imagine need myself needing a full Dutch oven. Having baked and cooked with it now, I’m very happy with the size. It conducts heat well. The pan is extremely heavy as would be expected from cast iron. I will admit the enamel on the handle has already chipped in one spot - probably because it’s challenging to maneuver given its weight. I love the color.
