Lam23m: I needed a lamp for doing puzzles + sewing. After reading all the positive reviews, decided to buy (2) of these lamps. They are perfect. So far, I used them in a dark corner to put up shelves + being able to aim them at the perfect angle worked great.
They took longer then expected with the electrical cord that runs thru the pipe, but mission accomplished.
They are going to work extremely well for doing my 3'x4' puzzle.
I highly recommend these lamps + may purchase a 3rd to leave in my sewing room.

Thomas J. Price: The only thing I disliked about the light is the dimly light on/off switch that is lit all of the time, even when the light is switched off. If using this lamp as a bedside reading lamp, the lighted switch is a distraction in a darkened room. Otherwise, it is a wonderfully bright craft lamp. I use mine for both wood carving and stained-glass work.

Grandma Nan Amazon Customer: Excellent lighting for doing hand sewing in the evening. Light is both adjustable to focus on the sewing and is dimmable. Heavy enough to be sturdy but light weight enough to be portable.
