Aleah Compton: I got this lamp for my mom for Christmas at least 5 years ago and she still uses it today. It’s exactly what she wanted. It has different options when it comes to having it on… such as all lights on or only some. It is very bright and easy to use. She used it for doing peoples hair and makeup.

"hconnor5": I only discovered when I unpacked it that it was fitted with a US plug and is for 110 volts. I got in touch with the manufacturer who replied "Our lamps are designed to be used with standard U.S. voltage and are not designed for international use. Additionally our warranty is only valid within the US." I have alerted Amazon UK to this problem but it is still for sale on the website.

Veronica: This is the third floor lamp of this style I have purchased. The other two are brass whilst this newest is nickel. I originally purchased them because I was looking for something extremely bright, both for reading and for craft work. They have not disappointed. I have found the price reasonable, too. Quality is superb. They have a very, very minimalistic 'look,' which is something I love. Easy to put together, too.

VeronicaVeronica: We'd been looking for an exceptionally strong light for the living room and weren't able to find exactly what would go with our rather modern furniture. We wanted something where form matched function and this is *exactly* what we bought. A very, very spare look with light that is bright enough to illuminate the entire room handily, although with three taps of the toe, the light becomes quite soft. It isn't what I would call a 'rugged' lamp; I think it would topple if a dog or kid's trike bashed into it. And fairly easy to assemble. As far as we can tell, and we've lived with it for a couple of weeks, this lamp is just perfection.

Amazon Customer: I've had this lamp for almost 2 years now, and I love it. It's really bright to the point where it can almost light up my entire room by itself without needing the help of my ceiling light- and the adjustable branches are really flexible. The three brightness levels are also fantastic-- I love dimming it down just before I sleep. The switch IS a floor one like other reviews mentioned, but thankfully I have mine directly next to my bed and what I did was I just taped the switch to the side of my nightstand. It's actually incredibly convenient not to have to get out of bed to reach an overhead switch. You just have to think about where you're going to put this particular lamp before buying. I'd also note that it's not as tall as most floor lamps, so that's something to be aware of as well.

After moving it to another socket last week it refused to turn back on beyond an initial flash of light. I tried a few different sockets, but it was crackling when I'd connect it-- the adapter wasn't working anymore I guess. Jeanie: I live in a small house with small rooms, minimum accessible electrical outlets and only one overhead light in the center of a long rectangular kitchen. We couldn't see in here.

When I wanted to replace an old pole lamp, I found this. It illuminates the room and the adjoining hallway. I can point it to light up any corner as needed. So I bought a second one to replace a non-working pole lamp in the living room. There was previously one lamp on a small end table. We couldn't see to read or do anything else. Now I can direct light to any part of the room. Finally, I put one in the corner of the kitchen, I can now see both ends of the room.

The base is heavy enough to hold up the lamp but takes up minimal room. You can put it against the wall out of the way. No big lamp shade to bump into. No protuberances sticking out into the room. It's compact and powerful.

TIP: The lamp comes in a box with all the pieces strung together by the wire. My impulse was to put the base down and screw the next part into it working my way up. Don't do that. You'll wind up with extra wire sticking out of the top. Start with the top piece and screw each successive part into each other,...
