alracybot: UPDATE: I finally got an email from these people with a link where I could find these water curtain replacements. One problem: it only goes to their BIDET product page, has no menu, nothing. Seems they thought it would be amusing to send me there instead of giving me support for the AC.
Ha. Ha.

The unit itself works fine. A little expensive. (The battery is useless. You have to keep it plugged in otherwise it runs down in about 15 minutes.) But it cools as it claims.

But heaven help you if you need to replace the water curtain. That's the part inside the AC that gets nasty dirty and is made with some kind of felt. I searched online--can't find one.
I called "customer service." You cannot talk to a human, NOR can you order anything. I emailed asking where to buy these filters. I was asked for an ORDER NUMBER--for a part I can't order because THEY refuse to tell me where or how to find one.

This is extremely frustrating. My conclusion is that once they've sold you their product you do not exist to them. NEVER have I experienced such terrible customer service. Zero effort to help me.

Sandra: I live in the desert Southwest where summer temps can exceed 115. Last summer, we had power outages during the afternoons’ highest temperatures. I purchased this model after the second event. Today was the first time I’ve had to use it, and I’m amazed! It’s not intended for use in large rooms, but I have it set up about six feet from me in the “great room,” the largest room in the house, and I am getting a comfortable reduction in heat while I wait for the power to come back on. I highly recommend every household with small children, elderly family members, or individuals with health issues keep one or more of these on hand. What a difference over the unpleasantness of last year!

D TD T: With the work from home nowadays in tropical weather, this device is a godsend. It would be too wasteful to on the air condition but again still too warm with only the fan. This little box provides the in between. I don’t have to waste too much on electricity and yet avoid suffering the heat and humidity.

I tried experimenting with the product if it works well outdoors. Again with the heat and sun nowadays, there is only that so much limited activities I can do with my toddler. I just hung in on the stroller while walking the park. The little kiddo seems obviously much more comfortable with the cool air around him instead of previously only the fan blowing hot air before I got the device. Also tried it while camping, brought down the heat good enough that it is so wonderful and absolutely luxurious enjoying air con conditions while in the outdoor tents.

Dave: So much false advertising prompted me to write this review. It CANNOT refrigerate. It hardly cools in more humid climates. All it is is a swamp cooler. The language they use to advertise this is deceitful. False claims all round. Cool a room? It can only feel cool 1 foot away.

At best it helps as a humidifier but that is hardly worth the over $100 you pay for it. It is worth $20. And the water curtain? All it is is a couple of sponges you wet before putting in front of the fan. The water in the tank doesn’t even refill the sponges to keep them wet. Do they filter? With the amount of air bypassing the “curtain”? Forget it. More fanciful language and false claims.

Battery life next. Another false claim. Full charge gets you 3 hours on low speed. No light. No humidifier. Just. The. Fan. On. Low. Now I don’t know anyone who calls 3 hours a full night’s sleep. So they expect you to leave this plugged in.

If they’d been honest and not call it the amazing refrigerator and instead charged $20, I would have gladly bought it and kept it for what it can do. Mini fan with humidifier function,

Lyndalowe: The BLAUX portable Is nothing more than a glorified fan. It represents itself as a small AC unit. This is misleading. Typically AC stands for air conditioner. BLAUX uses that acronym to refer to their device as an air cooler. However, it really is not even an air cooler. It’s just a fan that you need to be sitting close by to feel its effects. I Think if it functioned the way I thought it would, similar to an air conditioner in a car, I would’ve been very happy with it and would’ve thought the price was completely reasonable. But for a very small fan I think $90 is too much. Unfortunately for me the weather did not warm up soon enough for me to be able to try it out. By time it was, it was too late to return.

I really had high hopes for this device. I think the concept of using the technology of automobile air conditioning to air condition a home is brilliant. I already have air conditioning installed in my home but I really wanted to give this new technology a chance because I think it’s better for the environment.
