ARAFUNA Mini HDMI DVD Player for Home Television Entertainment

AnnaAnna: Waste of money. We watched one movie on this dvd player and then it stopped working. When trying to watch a second dvd a little while after, it wouldn’t load. We tried multiple DVDs and none would load. The same dvds worked fine in a computer.

I later purchased this one as it has a lot of positive reviews.
This one works well with the input on our Sonos 5 speakers.

Amazon Customer: Unit was easy to set up and use, however every single disc I tried to play in it would freeze up multiple times while playing. Tried 3 brand new, never before played discs - happened to each one of them multiple times. Very disappointed in the quality. Returned it the same day I received it.

KP: We chose this DVD player because it had the slimmest profile. We travel 2-4 times per year, and wanted to have something portable and compact. This one had decent reviews.

It was about 6 weeks until we had an opportunity to use this DVD player. It had a super hard time connecting. The screen announced "LOADING" for minutes at a time. We read the troubleshooting section in the instructions. We tried multiple different DVDs, including brand new discs. We tried adjusting settings. on both this player and the TV We turned power off and rebooted this DVD player over and over and over. When we finally got the player to work, after around an hour of attempts, we weren't sure what had finally worked, but we did get it to play one movie.

This weekend, 6 monhts since we purchased this player, we made our second connection with this DVD player. I had hoped that the settings were all in place now that the player should just operate normally. But no, the screen continued to say "LOADING" no matter what we tried. After another hour of frustration, we finally gave up. This has been so aggravating!!!

Since I am not within the 30 days return period, I cannot send this DVD...

Ian Craft: I bought this item because I have some tv series that you cannot find on any streaming service and liked it’s compact design. However, it can be iffy whether or not it will play something. I didn’t want to play Terminator 2 or Babalyon 5, but it had not no issue playing a scratched up dvd by Jean Claude.

Aurie: It’s not much bigger than the disc you’re putting in it; since it top loads like a cassette player, there’s not even an ejection carriage taking up more space. I bought this for the minuscule size and it tucks perfectly between the screen and the base of my TV once the disc is loaded.

It works fine, if a bit noisy, and the remote feels flimsy and very lightweight but works fine.

Fast forward and rewind functions are kind of clunky and imprecise, but that’s pretty standard for a cheaper player.

Very simple to connect to my TV using the included cords.

AndrewAndrew: I was searching high and low for a compact DVD player that could be powered by USB. The size and weight were additional important factors for me, because of how I wanted to mount the device. I ran across this ARAFUNA compact DVD player and was immediately intrigued and hit the "add to cart" button. This little guy punches above its weight class! I was very impressed with the built quality, ease of use, and the overall looks. The picture quality is pretty good, but is slightly lacking ... likely due to due to my TV and composite cable selection. The colors are great and the sound is good as well (minor static at higher volumes - again, TV?). Overall, I would highly recommend this device for folks looking for a small budget-friendly DVD player. As the subject of this review notes, I was pleasantly surprised.

John L.: The product proved to far exceed it's performance in terms of cost for the unit. I was impressed in terms of what it was able to play! I used HDMI with a Fire TV of 42" size. While watching I had to stop a number of times then return. It resumed exactly where I stopped. Of note the unit developed a malfunction that required me to contact customer service. My email response came quickly and suggested a number of possible solutions. When it became quite clear the unit had a issue. The replacement came within three days of my documentation! No issues with new unit. It's compact size makes it perfect for travel use in car and staying away on trips. It top loads and all buttons for function along left side. Works well for cd play in car via 3.5mini into aux input. Would buy other products from company.

Netbook User: Whoever developed this DVD player obviously put some thought into it, or at least purchased first-rate electronics to squeeze into this tiny unit. It's not much bigger than a DVD itself, and comes with a HDMI cable, 4-connector 3.5mm to stereo AV output cable (yellow, red and white RCA plugs), a USB-C to USB type A patch cable, a USB charger that can double as a cell phone charger in a pinch, and a compact remote control (for which you'll need to supply 2 AAA batteries).

Excellent picture quality and sound in both NTSC and PAL modes with both Region 1 and Region 2 DVDs. The video output seems better than average for upconverted DVDs, while the sound quality and volume are also top notch.

One design feature that is particularly nice is that the on-screen notifications for repeat, A-B repeat, elapsed and remaining time display, etc. are located close enough to the center of the screen that you can still see all or most of the useful information if you have your TV configured with a zoomed aspect ratio to eliminate the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen when viewing widescreen DVDs.

I'll be buying and testing another one of these players soon, since...
