Alex D: I recently cut the cord and was about to pay a monthly fee just to be able to watch NFL football on my local networks but decided to at least try an over the air antenna first, specially since I would’ve had to pay at least $900 yearly just to watch football. Initially I was really intrigued by the claims from many antenna vendors claiming incredible long reception distances but the more I researched those antennas and really looked into the reviews I realized that most if not all were exaggerating their claims and reviews. I wanted at least a decent antenna since I live over 41 miles from the nearest TV Towers and I have never lived without cable because I believed good reception to my location was going to be almost impossible. Clearstream by Antennas Direct kept coming up on my search for well reviewed antennas time and time again so I decided to pay more once for a quality antenna than try my luck with a cheap antenna. I wanted to make sure I gave it a good try before possibly giving up and paying to receive my local network channels. I’m glad and actually pretty surprised that this antenna actually works as good as advertised. It quickly picked up 57 channels and they all...

Aussie Dave: The Antenna was stuck to a window and brought in a good number of channels. For most channels the signal was strong and mostly without pixelation. Unfortunately the channel that I did want ie the ABC channel was not picked up even though it was well within the 55+KM range.

Mostly the antenna was pretty good

Nominalis: I was a bit disappointed that the Antennas Direct Clearstream 4V antenna didn't recieve any more channels than my older, much cheaper antenna. But I soon realized that the channels were far more stable and less affected by bad weather. The assembly instructions were much better than most until I got around to attaching the VHF antenna which doesn't "click" into place so I had to use some zip-ties to attach it. But it turns-out that the VHF antenna is of no use for receiving digital HD channels in Canada. So I bypassed it and connected the coaxial cable directly to the main UHF antenna feed and got an even stronger signal. Then I tried wiping some conductive get onto the coaxial terminals and the signal strength increased again. 30+ channels on Southern Vancouver Island, 24 worth watching.

I bought this item as an Amazon Warehouse Deal. It was listed as "used" and "repackaged". It was obvious that the antenna had never been assembled and that all of the parts were included and in their original plastic bags. Only the cardboard box was not original. So I got it for less than half-price through buying it as a Warehouse Deal. Overall, a very good buy.

There is a less...

Dale Dietrich: We live in a pretty crappy location for receiving OTA channels. We face north, in a downtown Toronto condo on the 3rd floor staring right into the back of the concrete Sony Center wall about 80 feet away. I'm surprised how well we do receive NBC (2-1), CBS (4-1), ABC (7-1), PBS (19-1) and other U.S. channels which are all south of us. I presume signals somehow bounce off the Sony Centre concrete wall back to our antenna. We do have a clear view of the CN Tower off to the left at about 75 degrees from an antenna position in our window. We get 33 channels on a good day with our 4 year old amplified Winegard FL5500A. My wife likes to watch Global news and even though Global has a local tower, the 6pm broadcast often pixelates. I bought this CleareStream 2V hoping it would give us just a bit of a nudge over the top to clear up that channel. It costs twice as much, has a higher rated distance, and right now is reviewed much more favorably than the Winegard. But, alas, not only isn't it better, it gets fewer channels. Mind you it 'almost' reaches the performance level of the Winegard, but on almost every channel it scanned worse. I also tried adding an amp to see if that would change...

Mark Szorady: In my previous review of the  Mohu Leaf Ultimate Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna , I commented on how I was located in a complete dead zone for signal (sitting in a valley surrounded by acres of trees in the middle of a woods). The Mohu Leaf brought in two digital channels which demonstrated the promise of getting more signal if I went with an outdoor antenna.

I considered purchasing the Mohu Sky, but had my doubts as to its range. Plus the folks at Mohu told me it had to be placed as high as possible. The highest I can set an outdoor antenna, right now, is approximately 20 feet.

I decided to go with the Clearstream 2V. I set this up on the roof of a ranch house on a mast strapped to the chimney. This gives me the 20 foot height.

Using TVFool.com, I pointed the antenna towards Youngstown, Ohio towers (40 miles SSE). My initial scan brought in 14 digital channels. Amazing reception for an antenna this small! Ten channels are from Youngstown, while 4 channels originate in Cleveland. I'm receiving CBS, Fox, ABC, and PBS out of Youngstown. The fringe channel out of Cleveland is WVIZ (PBS). It's spotty and not at all as rock solid as I'd like (That tower is...

Sibelius: I'm located in a second-floor, brick apartment building, a little less than 25 miles southwest of Chicago. In regards to aiming the antenna, my apartment has no window that faces Chicago's broadcast towers, and my apartment is at the back of the building, with one other apartment between me and the towers.

After opening the box and checking the contents, it was pretty easy to see that I'd received an antenna that was not brand new. The Loop Element Base had been re-mounted incorrectly on the Reflector. The screws that held it in place were covered with scratches, as if someone had used a steak knife instead of a Phillips screwdriver to tighten them.

The four Roof Sealing Pads (used in mounting the J Mount Mast to a roof) were completely fused together into a useless clump. It appeared as though they had been melted together. They were fused into such a sticky mess that I couldn't even remove them from their plastic packaging (the whole mess was stuck to the inside of the bag). As this is Chicago, and it's mid-winter, it's very unlikely that this fusion happened at my end. Fortunately, I am using this antenna indoors, so the Sealing Pads are not...
