Ashengl: I bought this to use with my M1 iPad Pro 12.9 inch to charge the iPad while it’s connected to a monitor.

The HDMI connection works fine (I’ve had problems with other brands’ HDMI hubs and my iPad, but not with Anker hubs). The iPad recognises the monitor’s HDR compatibility so this isn’t affected by the hub.

The hub’s PD power pass through only works if the charger has enough power to overcome the power drain of the hub. My 65W Anker GAN charger will only charge the iPad through the hub if nothing else is plugged into the charger (i.e. the hub/iPad is getting all 65W). My 20W Apple charger will not charge my iPad through the hub (a “not charging” message appears on the iPad because not enough power is getting through).

Both chargers will charge the iPad directly (not via the hub) without any issues, so the hub must be using a lot of the power provided by the charger. I haven’t had the same issue with other USB-C hubs and I’ve tried two of these Anker hubs and had the same issue with both.

If you can live with this issue, then the hub works well.

tekno.mage: Nice little hub, but unfortunately it doesn't work well with MacOs Ventura and usb flash drives or unpowered external disks. I think this is an issue with MacOs Ventura rather than the hub per se, as there are plenty of support questions on the Apple Support site regarding unpowered hubs, external disks connected through them randomly unmounting, with MacOs Ventura. If you only want to copy a few files it's okay - but big data transfers keep failing as the external drive keeps un-mounting in use :-( So no good to use for connecting a backup drive.

Bruno: The media could not be loaded.  Update 15th April:

After contacting Anker customer support they happily sent me a replacement and an additional hub as a way to say sorry. I have been testing these new hubs for almost a week and they work great! Right now i'm using it with a 1080p 75 Hz monitor, a wireless headset USB dongle, a USB keyboard, and a USB C pendrive and everything works great.

I'm updating my review to 5 stars because of the amazing customer support and because with this replacement everything works great!

First thing I did upon receiving my Power Expand 8-in-1 Hub was plugging it it to my Dell G3 3590 USB C port and plugging my monitor to check whether the video output was 1080p@75 Hz (the maximum supported by my monitor) and it worked great for the couple minutes I tested. Then I checked if Samsung Dex was working with my S10e and it was also working fine.

The next day before plugging in all my devices to it I noticed the hub was recognized as a 2.1 USB HUB and a Billboard Device (I don't know what that is). I tried to plug in my Keychron Keyboard and my PS Gold Headset Dongle...

The moment I noticed this thing on Amazon, I bought it and it literally just arrived. Finally, 4K60 over just USB-C with other ports (including making up to 10Gbps available to them) for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the first two things I've done with it were both disappointing. I'll cut to the chase, the power delivery pass through isn't working with one of their own chargers.

The first device I tried connecting this with is my Anker PD4 with one USB-C cable as the only thing plugged into it so I can test the truly up to 100W (-15 for its own power) claims. I've tried connecting it with Apple's 2m USB-C charge cable (100w capable) and an equivalent CableMatters cable that also supports 100W. When plugged directly into my laptop, both of these cables immediately start charging it and show up as 100W power sources. When this Anker hub is plugged in and either of them is connected to the power delivery port on the side of it, the laptop does not charge (laptop is a 16" Macbook Pro, I've tried multiple ports just for the heck of it).
