You take them out of the package and put them where you want. The underside tells how long they last but you're not able to change the battery and I'm not sure if they work past that time or possibly fail before then.

Kathleen: Such a tiny device that gives you a big warning if a leak is detected. I've got one under my kitchen sink and one under the bathroom sink. I tested them and they work great. Luckily I haven't had a warning because I haven't had a leak, but these seem to be a great solution to a potential problem. I recommend them.

H. Dye: We just had a heck of a storm come through and dump a ton of water and hail on us very quickly. I have a tiny leak down in my basement that I discovered the last time we got 2" of rain over a couple of days. I saw this item on TikTok recently and ordered it from Amazon and it worked perfectly! It went off immediately and I was able to go down and address the issue before it soaked my area rug down there. It was advertised for use in RVs, but it can be useful anywhere. If you have the threat of water in the basement, or anywhere it shouldn't be, I HIGHLY recommend this little product!!

The alarms went off and screamed bloody murder. My husband (who is very hard of hearing, heard the racket and investigated. He only had to clean up a small puddle in the laundry room.

Erin: These things definitely tell ya if you have water. They work very simply by the 2 metal prongs on the bottom of them, if there is water touching those prongs, they beep and they don't stop until you physically pick them up and remove them from the water (or I guess if the battery runs out, but we haven't had that problem yet.) On 5 occasions now, these things have told us immediately that there was water and saved us from having a massive cleanup. It doesn't take much water at all either, we put them directly on the concrete floor in the utility closet and the moment there was any water, they started sounding, so you don't need to wait until there is a catastrophe amount of water (even a quarter inch of water is a lot, so I like that these basically go off with even the smallest trickle of water.) They are not very loud though, that is my only complaint. We have these in the basement, and if we are upstairs in our bedroom (just one floor above) with our door closed, we cannot hear it going off. We can hear it slightly with the door open though, so I wish that they were just slightly louder. Also, these are very basic, you cannot sync them to an app on your phone or anything, so if...
