surfzombie:
I recently purchased this 5 star antenna model. My old antenna was used for 2 1/2 years before the rotor stopped working. This 5 Star antenna model generally gets good reviews online and has good recommendations as a purchase choice.
The assembly of this TV antenna is easy. It does not take much time to put together. When I put the antenna together I did not install the reflectors at the very back of the antenna correctly. The reflector assembly was installed pointing outwards instead of pointing inwards. Upon the initial installation the antenna was not working well. Reception was rather poor. After I reversed the reflectors in back the antenna was working much better. On my antenna I have aluminum foil covering the two large VHF receive elements that stick out 12 inches from the sides of the antenna.
I live in a valley in the hills above Palm Springs, California. I pick up stations from the low desert that are not line of sight. There are only a a few RF hotspots on my property that pick up stations from the low desert. One spot is right next to my home. Most people depend on the local TV repeater in town for their free TV reception. This antenna can pick...

Ron Morency: antenna was easy to assemble however I am afraid it will not last too long as it is very cheaply made. The rotor is made of very thin plastic. As far as I am concerned it is not worth half ot what it cost to buy.

This antenna works quite well in clear weather. I get 86 channels, one as far as 150 miles away. Only draw back, on real cloudy days you loose most of the channels. But other than this, it's easy to install, simply to use and program.
Gives a nice clear picture when it works.

James I. Sherwood: I received this well within the promised delivery date. I installed it at the top of a 45' tower and ran the line (three lines actually) from the antenna atop the tower into the room where the TV is situated. On my first try I picked up 28 channels.

JR-55:
I bought this antenna to install in my attic getting ready to "cut the cord" from cable. I found several manufacture issues common with made in China products:
(1) threads on U bolt were not cut clean so the nuts wouldn't screw on all the way to tighten it to the mast. I made a replacement out of some thread rod I had.
(2 ) The button on the remote control continually stuck when pushing it. I was able to free it up by working with it and a little silicon lube (I probably won't use the remote once setup anyway).
Issues which are caused by a lack of quality control.
The light weight construction of the antenna would never survive the wind and ice of a typical winner where I live. Because I am mounting it in my attic it will be fine though.
The rotor is ok for my needs to adjust it once and leave it set but if you lived in an area where it needed to rotate to point to different stations, not having an indicator to show the direction it is pointing and not being able to turn the direction needed would be an issue.
It does seem to work as expected for what I need after fixing the issues I had.
UPDATE: A couple of days later I noticed...

Aaron Owens: Took a few minutes to assemble, even though I didn't use the instructions, so it was pretty easy! After mounting the antenna where a dish used to be, used the pre existing cable the connected to the dish. The wire was hidden under the vinyl siding by previous installer so I didn't run another cable. Routed the cable to the box. Then to the TV. Quick and easy. Programmed the TV. I got 64 channels total! Great picture. I'm 25 miles away from the city. Note: the direction change button rotates in 1 direction and will pull the cable if you continue to rotate it.
