Kevin S.: The garberator is great and runs quieter than the previous one we had of the same horsepower, like many have mentioned.

2 things:

This can be hardwired in. You don't need an adapter or anything if the one you currently have is hardwired. On the last pages of the instructions it shows you exactly how to hardwire it. It shouldn't void warranty, like on reviewer thought might happen. It's meant to be hardwired if you so need, if you don't have a switched outlet in the area.

Secondly, don't buy the suggested sink stopper. Amazon suggests "frequently bought together" items and shows a sink stopper. You don't need it because the garberator already comes with one. It's also a non-refundable item if you do decide to buy it. Kind of a scam. The Amazon rep was helpful to me though and refunded me for it when I called them. You can't do a return on the item via the website or app because the item isn't eligible for return.

All in all, it's a good garberator. Great value for the money, as well.

FM: I've had this for over a month now and feel I can make a more qualified review.

I replaced a leaking Insinkerator Badger 5 with this unit. The Insinkinerator was leaking from the bottom where the direct wired power connects to it which apparently is a very common problem and I would think very dangerous.

I purchased the EZ mount version and and true enough, installation was very easy. Instructions were very clear and it was a direct drop-in replacement for the old Insinkerator. The dish washer feed line and exit pipe all lined up nicely and I didn't have to get someone to re-do any piping. Do NOT forget to punch out the block for the dish washer line if you have a dish washer. :) It took a lot longer to remove the 3-bolt Insinkerator than to install this unit.

Performance-wise, it is much quieter and has no issues chewing through what we've throw at it (mostly organic material) even when the chamber is full. Another plus is that the rubber splash guard is removable so it can be easily replaced down the line once it gets nasty.

For the price, easy installation, and lengthy warranty, you can't go wrong with this unit.

Tom G: This is the second Waste King disposal that I have purchased. The original one lasted more than 10 years....so long I can't really remember. The problem I encountered, which is typical for a disposal, was the failure of the rivet that holds the small blade that breaks down the disposed waste. This new disposal is called the Legends Series model 2600 with the EZ-Mount attachment. It is a 1/2 HP unit replacing a 1/3 HP Pulverator model. The nice thing about the EZ mount is after you install one you will never go back to the 3 bolt mounting system and here is why. When you install disposals that use the 3 bolt flange (including other Waste King models) you need to position yourself under the sink, in very tight quarters with a either a single or a pair of wrenches to secure the disposal to the flange attached to the underside of the sink. This is a bit tedious and once you go through the process you will really appreciate the EZ-mount. Removing the disposal for replacement, to retrieve something dropped into the sink that cannot be grasped from above the sink, or if you have a leak at the gasket between the sink mount and the disposal is laborious with the 3 bolt...

Mark D.: Our twelve-year old Insinkerator Badger finally failed after great service. The metal grinder casing corroded through and started leaking (through the motor housing!) and into the sink base.

We found the Waste King unit on Amazon and considered it to be a great value. It appears to be a somewhat generic unit, as it's identical in appearance to several other brands. That said, it's well-buiilt, installs easily, and runs well and quietly.

Two quibbles:

1. The online description does not tell you the unit comes with a cord and plug. If your original unit was hard-wired into your house, you'll have to do a little extra work - either install a receptacle under your sink, disconnect the cord from the unit (it uses screws inside the motor housing, but it takes some digging to get at), or do what I did - cut the plug off and install a junction box and cover under the sink. DO THESE MODIFICATIONS ONLY IF YOU'RE COMFORTABLE WORKING WITH ELECTRICITY. If you have ANY doubts, hire an electrician.

2. The description says the unit is "sound insulated" - I've seen on similar units a foam insert between the grinder / motor casing and the gray plastic...
