Patriotic purchaser: I researched a load of heavy duty fans and this fan met my needs. Long hours of use and high CFM were main factors lets not forget durability. It has been 2 months since purchase and I am happy to say this fan is a BEAST!. The fan on low is whisper quiet and moves a great deal of air. As you increase the speed it gets louder,this is to be expected. On high this fan pushes so much air you can not help but laugh. I am Super happy with my purchase. I feel like I got what I paid for. Nice job XPOWER.

Egasa: Use it for the indoor sweat fest on a turbo trainer with the bike. Works well with fine air flow at full setting. Yet to consider the need for a smaller setting.

Flipper: Due to the massive rise in energy costs in the last 12 months, I've been looking for a low cost alternative to using a tumble dryer for my washing during the winter months. I initially wanted one of those heated drying pod type thingies but they were like rocking horse droppings so I had to think outside the box and boy am I glad I did. This fan is absolutely amazing for drying clothes and literally costs pennies to run. I put a full load of wet washing on my airer, position the fan on a chest of drawers that is slightly higher than the airer, angle it down towards the washing and whack it on full power. It's pretty loud but I leave it upstairs and can't hear it downstairs so it doesn't cause any disturbance and all I have to do is flip the washing when the top/outer feels pretty dry. Depending on how wet the washing is, it can take 5-7 hours to dry but even on full power and at today's prices, it only costs 4p an hour to run so it works out at between 20p and 30p to dry a full load, which is around 90% less than using a tumble dryer for an hour! The added benefit is that I can use it on hot summer days to cool an entire room for a fraction of the cost of a standard electric fan...

Brendon: I want to state at the outset that this is a pricey unit when compared to some Chinese-made fans on the market, but I assure you the investment is well worth it because it is BUILT TO LAST and just plain WORKS--splendidly!

I've been through several fans and I am all but permanently soured on LASKO brand fans and their blue X-Blower 6-Position Utility Blower Fan was the biggest waste of money and an enormous disappointment due to improperly molded internal impeller that wobbled just enough (especially at higher speeds) that it made an awful rubbing sound and high pitched squeal that only worsened with further use. The impeller was rubbing on the case internally and that damaged the impeller to the point that it couldn't be repaired, so rather than buy replacement parts from Lasko when the darn thing was not yet 2 months old, I began in-depth research for a permanent replacement!

Enter the XPower FC-300. WHOA. THIS THING TOTALLY BLEW MY MIND. It came FULLY ASSEMBLED, well packed and was in use within less than 3 minutes of delivery to my front door.

Mr GascoyneMr Gascoyne: I wanted something well built and that wouldn't die on me in less than 2 years and if it does there's a good chance customer service would actually exist. Other considerations were:

Ability to dry carpet and hard floors
Easy to handle (good air flow versus size)
Targetted/narrow airflow so the fan could sit at distance from me

I did not buy this to be the quietest so the noise levels don't bother me and setting 1 in most cases is more than enough. Note there are quieter fans for less (look at the 20" types) which you will barely notice are on and offer acceptable airflow plus won't look so industrial.

Included data on the off-chance it's semi-helpful.

What would be on my wish list for revision 1?
(I have no complaints with this fan I just like to come up with ideas...even if they are flawed lol)

Counterweight on the opposite side of the controls so the fan naturally balances itself without the need to use the tightening knobs (which are easy to use and helpful for non-level services for example) just to make direction tweaking even faster.

JH: I bought this fan on a whim about six months ago, remembering how hot the previous summer was. I felt a bit stupid at the time - I'm going to spend well over $150? For a fan? But I've been annoyed by cheap fans in the past, so I figured if I was going to get one, I might as well go all out.

I am not normally one to write reviews. But I am not kidding you when I say that this fan has changed my life. It's one of the best purchases I've ever made. This fan is AMAZING.

I live in a studio apartment, on the top floor with large sunny windows. Because of this, when it's warm out, my apartment gets HOT, and the air lingers at night. We have a small window air conditioner, which is excellent unless the temperature gets above 90 or so, in which case the AC doesn't knock down the heat nearly enough. I have trouble sleeping unless it's cool, so this is a big deal, especially at night. Summers are normally brutal for me, and I'm usually significantly less productive in those months due to the heat.

Enter the fan.
