Frank J.: This is indeed brass and is very sturdy and I hope to get years of use out of it. FAR better than the plastic option. HOWEVER...with any of the threaded products for garden hoses, I suggest putting some engine anti-seize grease on the threads before attaching the hoses. This will help keep the metals from interacting with the calcium/lime etc in the water and freezing (chemically bonding) the parts together. It is good to still finf real brass out there for anything.
