AFS Instructor: Big upgrade from 1/2hp Insinkerator, Home Depot junk. At least 50% more power, Much quieter, and higher quality machine, with heavy gaskets. The magnetic spoon catcher is a nice touch. Only small downside is it is bigger, so it takes up some more space. I don't really care about that so much. After my other one died, this was here in a couple days, was installed fast, and works great. Be aware, you will absolutely need some three dollar plumbers putty, for the sink seal, during the install.

Johnny: Easy to install, had everything I needed to install it. Fit without leaks, and quietly grinds up food. Well worth the money, as it's inexpensive and does what it's supposed to.

omegamanomegaman: I installed a Waste Maid 10-US-WM-158-3B in my 2 person household kitchen. I chose the unit over Insinkerator due to price ($55), slimmer size and quieter operation. Installation was fairly simple after watching 6min instructional video, and also having replaced a couple of waste disposals in my life. The unit is more lightweight due to the plastic housing components and easier to handle then the Insinkerator that it replaced. The slimmer size allowed me to move my waste disposal from the right sink to the left and freed up some cabinet space under the sink as well as an easier plumbing set up. The Waste Maid unit is less noisy then the outgoing Insinkerator but I would not call it exactly quiet. overall, I think this is a great choice for the money.
Tip: use generous amount of plumbers putty under the flange. Tighten the three screws evenly but not too much. Come back 2-3 days later and tighten another half turn.

White ChocolateWhite Chocolate: Man, do I feel like a big dummy! Why haven't I been enjoying using a Waste Maid garbage disposer instead of the crap made by ISE all these years? I installed this Waste Maid today and I couldn't be happier. Like going from a beat up, rusted Cavalier to a brand new Cadillac. It is that much better!

For the last 25 or more years I have been fooled into thinking I needed a garbage disposal from ISE. I guess because they spend so much money on advertising and they are the ones you see in the display at Lowes. It is the brand my parents used. However, in 25 years, it seems like their quality has done nothing but go downhill and all I have done is replace them over and over and over. As I write this, I just replaced my last ISE Badger 5 with this Waste Maid.

It seems silly that I could be this excited about a garbage disposal but listen... After 25 years of using ISE brand disposals every single day, this really is like moving from a rusted, beat up Cavalier to a brand new Cadillac. It really is that different. Like, it's hard to explain how different these two models are.
