Upgrade Your Home with an ECOTOUCH 9KW 240V On-Demand Tankless Electric Water Heater

D: I purchased this heater for an outdoor shower I built next to my hot tub. Water heater is 40 amp instant hot water heater. If you don't know about instant water heaters then understand that this is a small one and not reccomended for a shower application but, going to a larger heater meant significant electricity demands. I already had the wire installed to my shed and that required digging 125 ft of trench. I was not about to replace that, so I took a gamble and decided to go with this unit to stay within the available electrical capacity. In order to get the water hot enough you must install a valve on the supply water line to slow down the flow of water going into heater. I was pleased that despite the low flow of water this shower head evenly distributed the water to all nozzles in this giant 12" rain shower head. I positioned the shower head about 7 feet up so I could stand directly under it. It feels very similar to rain but, warmer. For reference I am able to get the water temperature up to 120°F. Gaberoo: I bought this as a water temp booster to warm up the in-line boilers' water temp after the letdown (of mixing cold water in the boiler). Works great for that. In fact, a smaller unit would have worked for this purpose.

This version is actually powerful enough that I have turned off the boiler for the summer and only use this to heat the water for the house. The water flow (in the shower) needs to be reduced a little to make sure there is enough hot enough for my wife and kids and we do one shower at a time. This is still much better than the hot water flow from the in-line boiler.

The house only has a 1/2" water line into the house from the street so the 1/2" inlets to the heater do not reduce the overall flow too much in comparison.
I bought a 3/4" piping connection/isolation and pressure overflow kit but needed so many adapters, something always leaked. I ended up using pex feed lines to my own soldered copper fittings and used the pressure overflow valve off the exit at a Tee. No leaks and if I need to remove, I can cut and replace the pex. I isolated the feed line with valves to bypass the unit for service.

Bruce W: I purchased this for heating water for a bathroom sink. It gets the job done but is not as efficient as I anticipated. If you are thinking of using this for a shower or dishwasher you might be disappointed. I set the temperature to its' highest setting 131 degrees and it maintains a flow of hot water of 85 degrees at full open of the faucet. Opening the faucet to half flow and the unit will heat the water nicely to 110 degrees. It is just not as efficient as i anticipated. This was installed by a pro plumber and I had the electrician install a 240v 50amp circuit for this unit, this was all new construction. I want you to be aware of the limitations of the heater. It looks good, adjusts easily with the touch screen what more could you ask for (other than more hot water?) My advice is to buy the largest water heater you can to get the results you desire.

Dick Nelms: After paying an electrician to come wire this tankless hot water heater and a plumber to hook it up it would not work. After trying to get the company to tell us what the message on the unit "EF" meant we finally got a response that it was insufficient power we paid the electrician to come check the power and it was correct. He deducted the problem was the unit. So I would like to return the unit for credit but don't know how to do so since they don't take any emails or phone calls. Please let me know what to do about this problem. The unit was Ecotouch. Very disappointed in this product and lack of company response.
