Kirk K. Elliott: Good product. Appears well built. Almost instant hot water. The 2.5 gallon is good for cleaning up-hands, dishes, etc. If you naturally conserve water this model may do. If not, recommend upgrading to the larger model.

Easy to change temperature with a dial. I turn my down in the morning and turn it up in evening. That May not be necessary to conserve energy. It Heats quickly and stays warm for extended periods.

Highly recommended for high use fixtures that are a long distance from the main hot water source.

Amazon Customer: Easy to install and setup. Live in a single wide at the lake. Water heater at the end of the trailer. Would have to run about a gallon of water before starting to get hot water. Installed under kitchen sink and now we have HOT water almost instantly.

tiv1: Purchased this for my folks because their kitchen sink is as far away from the main water heater in the basement as possible in their house. They used to have to wait for over a minute before the hot water got there and now turn it on an immediate hot water. They said that they could measure the difference in water usage on their bill and waiting for hot water cost around $10/month.
The heater was easy to install by itself, just divert the incoming hot water into this tank and then from the tank to the faucet. The only snag was installing an actual duplex outlet for the dishwasher since it was previously direct wired in. Now, everything works great.

welder314: This review is for the 4 gallon model. These mini-tanks are really made for situations where you have a remote water heater, and you have to wait for hot water. They are not well suited for general use. That being said....

I have a broken hot water pipe in the foundation, and wanted a temporary solution for the kitchen sink. Our water temp is around 65 degrees. I gave this a shot.

With this set to the max setting, we can do some dishes, but if the sink is full - after a large family meal - the hot water runs out. Even when running at a trickle, or shutting off between washing / rinsing, it can still run out. It's far better than nothing, and it works for me as a temporary solution. We adjust the way we do dishes, by doing small batches at a time.

Remember you have about 4 gallons of hot water, and as soon as you start using it, the hot immediately begins to mix with cold water. By the time you have used ~ 2 gallons, you have effectively run out of "hot" water. The small heating element is made for longer recovery times - like 15 to 20 minutes.

If you do intend to use this as a "point of use" water heater, it would work in a bathroom sink for washing...

tiger chinaksorn: The shower in my house especially in winter can be luke warm at it's hottest setting, got this to give it a boost. Takes about a 3-10 min or so depending on how cold the water going in is to heat up fully but when it gets hot, it can get HOT. It's great. Sometimes the indicator light turns off when I forget to turn it off after my shower but I realize that it's just telling you that it's currently heating up the water. If the water is already crazy hot it stops and the light turns off...at least that's what I think. Would not test that and always have it on and heating, turn if off after use. Pretty good all things considered.

Kelly: I bought the 6 gallon heater for the tack room in my barn. It was easy to install and is working well. Of course it does not have a huge capacity, but it reheats quite quickly so it works for me to fill horse buckets, do some chores and then return for more hot water. We had a 24 hour power outage and the water was still hot after 24 hours, so the tank must be very well insulated. After doing some research I opted for this rather than a hot water on demand system and I am very satisfied.

jim drake: I am saving water by getting hot water immediately in the kitchen. Also the dishwasher Gets the hot water immediately so it can do its job with hot water rather than lukewarm water. My water heater is 50 feet away and it takes almost a minute to get hot water to the kitchen

my well water is way too cold for this unit; using a the shower head that came with my valve kit i get about a 3 minute shower. should have ordered a low-flow showerhead sooner lol :P

with a shortage of products on amazon these days; probably gonna get a second heater and plop it in series with this one. depending on how the low-flow shower head goes.

ChuckChuck: We have a tankless gas hot water heater and it took a long time before the water got hot for the kitchen faucet. After reviewing the options, I got the 2.5 gallon model. I got this over another major brand because it occupied less surface area and the sink cabinet was tall enough (need at least 19,5 inches). It was a lot easier to install than what the other reviews would suggest.

First, I saw what was under my sink for the hot water supply line. In my case, it was a 3/8 inch where there was a shutoff valve. The supply line would need a 3/8" male and the hot water coming out of the unit would also need the 3/8" male since what I disconnected was a 3/8" female nut.

I took the entire unit to a local (major) hardware store to fit and this is what I got. Two 1/2" inch female to 3/8" male (90 degree) stainless steel union. The 1/2" actually measures 3/4" so don't just order without knowing for sure what you have. They make these things very confusing so that plumbers can make a lot of money.

One 20 inch long 3/8" male and 3/8" male steel braided hose and one 20 inch? long 3/8" male and 3/8" female stainless steel hose. One 3/4" male PVC 1/2" female union, 1/2" PVC...
