Harold E. Steffee: As a former ETn2 on the USS Mullany DD 528 I enjoyed this story of the end of the war in
Pacific. It was so interesting for me as a tin can sailor. Having been to many of the places mentioned in the book made the book so much more interesting.

Marty: Full of suspense and action. A great read. Gives a great insight into navel intelligence. A deep dive into greed, evil and the inhumanity to man. Also, the redeeming qualities of man; loyalty, enduring love and friendship. Gives hope for humanity qualities like self sacrifice, devotion, duty and serving justice and truth. Would recommended this book to anyone. Not just for it's military history, but for it's inspiration of faith in the spirit of mankind to overcome our dark side and walk into the light for a brighter future for all of us.

Fred: The Neptune Strategy (090223) Wow just what a start to his new novel. Fantastic (7%). This man is the greatest, just what an author. I am nailed to this book already! (16%) I have been so wound up and down and transfixed by this story that I have failed to run my customary Commentary parallel to my reading for recording and submitting as my review. I hope that says what I have experienced out reading it. Action packed, surprise after surprise and enough to shake ones feelings about the important characters in the plot. At 87% it is just all happening, yet again, Mt Gobbell sure knows how to put a story together sand keep us readers transfixed it is so enjoyable and really hard to let go of when one reads in the manner that I do whereby I am quite unable to stop all and lock into a book for many hours thus am obliged to part from the story regularly but it sure brings me back with a great deal of anticipation which is invariably proven quite appropriate. Another Great Read. Fred

Meg Robertson: interesting characters and good story line. Many typos and bad spell checker very distracting. I guess you get what you pay for.

satorigal: I’m a woman whose father-in-law was captured at Corregidor after scuttling their ship following the fall of Bataan and it’s death March. As a 19 year-old Navy Corpsman (medical, didn’t carry a gun) I’ve heard his stories of the Bilobed Prison, the Hell Ships, and his time in Manchuria—3 & 1/2 years a POW of the Japanese. He never mention the hell of Corregidor. Start there, book 1 of this series. You’ll be hooked. Gobell’s mastery is in taking each section of the Pacific War and weaving the truth of the battles, deaths, and emotional turmoil (when PTSD was unheard of and men had to be John Wayne like the movies they all saw.) And he Carrie’s the same characters through the Ingram series so you have to follow their emotional ride. It is well worth your time, and the author’s knowledge is immense.

Robert Thompson made it home, married, and had 3 children. He was a “Mustang” who worked his way up from a seaman to a full Commander, going to night school all the way to a Masters in Hospital Administration. When he retired from the service he was VP of Southside Community Hospital.
I married his oldest son, Edward, when he was a Lieutenant. That was...

dedicated reader: Reading this story, Gobbell can be compared to W. E. B. Griffen’s series Men at War. A very well fleshed out story, based on fact. Looking forward to #5. Great work

Rick: Especially if you have been reading the series, this installment ties everything up. An awesome ending and epilog. Follow this author. You won't be disappointed.

R. A Chinn: I'm 4 books in and hooked. I'm enjoying the characters and the action. BUT the entire series needs a seriously hot date with a good copyeditor! The text is rife with spelling and usage errors, and occasional word processing goobers. Example: breath vs breathe. People can have bad breath, but you need to breathe to live. There are others, but this one is most frequent so far.
if you can get past the spelling and grammar, this is a seriously good string of yarns.

Martyn C.: The whole series has realistically human characters embedded into the actual history of the Pacific War. Good fictional accompaniment to any of the serious historical works covering this period; its horrors, frustratingly petty politics, leadership confusion, policy failings, cultural biases, battlefront terror, occasional genuine bravery, the atomic bombs and ambiguity over whether or not they were necessary, and in the end the wisdom of Douglas MacArthur in the way in which he courageously focussed on the future; looked beyond the undisputed barbarity of the Japanese army to impose a dignified peace and democracy to the vanquished.

Billy Belly: An action packed read that is conjoined by the other books in this saga. Great character development, dynamic characters, a typical war movie set in the oceans of the world. The editing & proofreading were pathetic though, enough to cause this reader to lose the momentum that a paragraph was building up to. Very distracting and quite frankly I grew rather tired of sending the publisher Notices of the errors & needed corrections (a feature in this reading app).
