Paul Funk: I am always amazed at the depth of knowledge of James and Miranda, about many different faces of war...not only from an American perspective, but also revealing the motivation, strategy, and tactics of the enemy on land, on and under the seas, and in the air. Very enlightening! I couldn't put it down.

Wilson62033: Amazingly the Monroe Doctrine, Volume 1 is almost like reading current events happening around the world in 2024. The political, economical and technological aspect of the book carries with it the sense of being right there, with the characters, in the room, the submarine, the cockpit or command center of a warship. Upon reading this book I was enraged at the death of certain characters. Sadly, I am looking forward to the demise of certain characters still living at the close of this book. I hold no ill towards any particular Nation, but the deviant evilness created within these chapters makes me want to command my own sub and shove a torpedo into somebody's heart. It's rare that I get that emotional over a book. Well done James and Miranda. Well done.

Thrawn: This is a good story. Even though the Chinese are the main antagonist again. What I dislike is that in the series China is supposed to be powerful because of this AI they got but all we mainly read about is them losing. I get the author is a republican and wants to make the United States look good.

Rebecca Wright Plaisted: This was good. Different than I expected, but still really good. I read Rise of the Republic first, when I should have read Monroe Doctrine first!

Steven M. (AKA Bobby Goliath, comedian): Or whiskey tango foxtrot, why didn't I see: Volume 1 before I started reading? My bad, but you left me hanging. My reviews are always for the authors. Before you say, "You try writing a good novel!" Please understand, I thoroughly enjoyed this first installment, and I am published. I can only imagine the research that goes into a novel of this type; after all it made Tom Clancy a billionaire. I'm annoyed, Mr Clancy made his fortune one book at a time and did not milk it by breaking his great creations into series. Also, this isn't a George R. R. Martin novel and you shouldn't have killed Dan. At that point you completely broke away from any more technical aspects about AI. You obviously used what you knew from headlines and then let that thread of the technical aspects of the novel die when the use of AI in autonomous or directed warfare is the actual point of the novel. You go into a decent amount of detail about military hardware and tactical aspects, not Tom Clancy deep, but enough to make it interesting on that level. But come on guys, AI is the PROTAGONIST, or at least protagonist adjacent.

Shauna Leigh Richter: Great read. Details are what I like and the story is compelling. Looking forward to the next action packed story. Some is a stretch, but all plausible

Markus Abel Steppe: This very well written book is both, thrilling and disturbing. It is a real script for the preludes of war. Hopefully, politicians will be aware of the possible use of AI and the implied dangers. I’m seeing forward to volume 2 of the Monroe Doctrine series!

Amazon Customer: Great start to a new series

Mish Medhat: The Monroe Doctrine Volume 1 is a deeply unique book; engrossing and captivating on a level that makes for a very frightening read. It is extremely thought-provoking and a reader cannot fail to be disturbed by the highly plausible sleight of hand the antagonist employs – underpinned by a large degree of factual content.

The story opens on events from October 2024 with a series of first strikes detected coming in from China on US military targets, although AEGIS (Advanced Electronic Guided Interceptor System) operating on US Navy ships sees no ballistic missiles. Several minutes before all systems throughout their early warning radar and detection systems suffered a blip. Is this a deep fake attack or the real thing? With options running out, the US launch a retaliatory strike on Chinese military bases, and so the war kicks off. The book then quickly rewinds to reveal events leading up to this moment, eventually bringing the book up to and beyond the war activities after conflict commences. It’s an extraordinary sweeping story that takes in so much, at so many levels, but it flows seamlessly, in a pitch perfect essay of solid action.

James B: A new series kicks off! A brilliant mix of war and espionage thrills with a fresh start.

This new story takes the current trends in technology and warfare to make a unique story. It is definitely a 2020s-themed story, from developments of modern warfare and politics to how it affects economics and personal lives.

I really liked all the new vehicle battles. Of which, there's a lot! Some would bring back memories of Red Storm Rising and even Dale Brown's books for me. From new weapons currently in development to the ones fighting for freedom today. (Imagine if this was made into a video game?)

I also like that the Chinese get some character development. Really gives the other side more depth too. They feel more like another side as opposed to just bad guys for the sake of it. This book is not afraid to challenge the misdeeds taken by the Beijing government or the private companies such as Alibaba.

Most importantly, in my opinion, the story presents something new and different. A new generation of stories for a new decade that's already defied past predictions.

So if you like stories about espionage, war and political chess set in...
