Kenneth soutar: First book for my kindle. Very good

Aaren: This wasn't bad....However, the T.V. Reacher is a lot more fun than the book Reacher, who is more rigid & serious. Even better though, Mark Greaney's Courtland Gentry in The Gray Man is a lot more exciting as THAT guy "takes a licking and keeps on ticking"! Court gets major league effed up but manages to keep limpin' along! You Reacher fans out there... give him a brief rest and check out "The Gray Man", as he is "the man"!

TRexDaddy:
After seeing the Tom Cruise movies and the TV series, figured it was time to see what Reacher was like in the books. Conclusion is far more Alan Ritchman than Cruise. Not saying Cruise’s version is bad, but the literary character is more the TV version.
Child’s writing is different. Uses the word ‘shrugged’ a lot. Like a drinking game. I do wonder how much time he spent driving the Georgia countryside as he seemed to have the distances and timing down pretty good. But you can easily get the unique flavor of Reacher as a different kind of guy. Very right and wrong military with the attitude to back it up. Ok, on to the next one!

Bjorn: I started reading the Reacher series after hearing about it from my wife as she hd read them years before we met. What I instantly liked about the writing is that Reacher is a believable character unlike Clancy s protagonists in his action novels. But Reacher is also more fleshed out than the characters of the old action series I used to red like Mac Bolan, Able Team, etc. I’m looking forward to reading more from the series. I especially liked reading a book like this in first person perspective. That was a good change. Keep in mind the book is a little dated and you can tell it was written before he North Hollywood bank robbery shootout in the 90’s as the police were still using .38 revolvers and shotguns. There is no talk of long rifles. This doesn’t make The story less compelling. Just a reminder for those reading the book after watching the television program.

Frederick H Davis: I read this book because I saw the Reacher movie with Cruise. I realized this would be a good read, but was completely unprepared for the shock. For you fellow Mack Bolan fans (you gotta be sorta old to get the reference without looking it up), you're going to become addicted to Reacher. Former army, highly trained in the art of violence, and a strong moral code that doesn't necessarily align itself well with society's code, but manages to get the job done. Be prepared for becoming addicted. Side note: how many of you that saw the Cruise movie recognized Lee Child in his cameo?

D. Oskouee: I really liked the fact that there was so little cussing and lots of characters with morals and skills. Jack Reacher is a hero that I've just been obsessing over. I watched the series on TV. I rewatched it as I was reading the book, and understood a lot more. I didn't like the fact that the screenwriters added so much foul language to the TV shows. Lee Child knows how to paint profound pictures with his words. He made these characters believable and real. There was a lot of violence and killing, but it was mostly the bad guys getting killed and they deserved the terrible sentences that Reacher gave them. I didn't like the way the series ended and how they dumbed down the plot to make it easier/faster to bring it to it's conclusion. The book is definitely better!

Mathieu Lagarde:

Karen Vallee: Better, more violent and sexual than the TV series.
