Beeb: I sort of enjoyed this book and I am continuing with the series. I just feel it could be better. Hopefully it improves in later books.

elsie: Bel and his two war dogs go to save the King's daughter only to find out she is his daughter. He picks up some help along the way. He saves the day with trickery and slight of hand and not so much battle. You have to read the next book to see how this story turns out.

Sabine Martini-Hansske: ob der Autor sich jemals mit bestimmten Bereichen seiner Erzählung auseinander gesetzt hat? Die Sprache und Denkweise ist sehr modern.

Lorrie A: A giant of a Druid, a small girl, and a fat baker make for a fascinating story of conquest and mystery. The times were hard and full of fighting and conquering. Men were men and they had to scratch for everything they had. Stories of ghosts and goblins though could be their downfall. The story is full of appeal for all readers. Enjoy!! I certainly did. Looking forward to more.

Brendan W. Shanahan: I didn't expect much purchasing this. I love blood, magic, and adventure. Case in point: I'm a fan of the Mummy movie series. It's stupid, predictable, but still good fun. I was expecting something along those lines here. I got the flat, uninspired characters and the predictable plot, but little of the action, humor, and winks. Things seemed to drag intolerably on punctuated by badly directed fight sequences. Many of the scenes seemed insignificant or full of fluff. The character's decisions made little sense, such as why in the world is a druid going to go out on this adventure by himself? That's just unthinkable unless your point of reference is fantasy video games. The conversation was stilted. The writing was very, very clunky. And, the worse sin of all, it just kept dragging on-and-on-and-on. In the end, I put the book down and won't be coming back.

Clemens A. Schoonderwoert: This very astonishing book is the 1st volume of the "Warrior Druid of Britain" chronicles, from the indie Scottish author, Steven A. McKay.

Important details concerning this story can be found at the back of the book, while at the beginning you'll notice a list with place-names, and they are very much participating within this great tale.

Once again story-telling from this author is of a top-notch quality, just like in his "Forest Lord" series, all characters are very believable and lifelike, and the atmosphere of the Dark Ages, along with the myths and legends, in Post-Roman Britain comes splendidly off the pages.

The story begins in the year AD 430, and our protagonist, the Warrior Druid, Bellicus, and his companions the hunting and fighting hounds, Cai and Eolas, find themselves at a feast along with their Lord, the High King of the Damnonii, Coroticus, and his wife, Queen Narina, when all of a sudden their daughter, Princess Catia, who in reality is Bellicus and Narina's daughter, is abducted by marauding Saxons.

After catching and killing the Saxons who created this diversion for the real abductors, and gaining time and space for them, so that they...

King Richard: Steven McKay's latest effort is an action-packed, fast-moving, intense work where you find yourself actually caring about the characters and any time that happens, you know you've picked up a good book. Add to that the fact that the title character and hero is a Druid, whom writers and Hollywood scriptwriters have over the years maligned, painting them as blood-thirsty cannibals given to human sacrifice and then having dinner out of the remains, and you have a very unlikely hero. Perhaps the Druids of old were like that, but in post-Roman Britain, they had evolved into a more priestly caste, more interested in teaching and spreading the news of the Old Gods and keeping them alive in face of the rise of Christianity and returning the people of Britain to the old ways.

This is the story of Bellicus, one such Druid who, just to make things interesting is a warrior and frighteningly tall (although in that time when the average height was about 5'6" means he could have been about 6 feet tall) and who puts the fear of whatever gods might be present into those he comes up against. Bellicus is on a quest - one to rescue the daughter of King Corotocus (spelled many other ways by...

David Baird: You should know who Steven A. McKay is..author of the Forest Lord series based around one of the best historical figures ever in my mind Robin Hood..after what seemed like forever the end of the series came hard like a punch to the gut.. I needed more.. but could the author ever live up to the expectations set..well lets see.

The Druid is a brand new tale for the author, this tale follows Bellicus. Religion is changing but Druids still hold some power..and as such when the King’s daughter is taken he sets out to rescue her. What he doesn’t know is that every corner he will be tested to his limits.

There’s twists and turns as Bellicus deals with the changes in the world around him. He’s been closed off abit in his own little bubble so he taken aback when people don’t give him the respect his station once demanded.. it’s doesn’t help that he’s a giant of a man..only his weapon makes him stand out as the Druid and as soon as people see it you seem them quickly decide to help the man out..for the most part.

He’s hot on the trail from the start but there’s numerous challenges ahead but Bellicus can handle everything..well at least that’s what...
