Ndag: The recipes are easy and taste great. Amazing the things you can eat on a carnivore diet. Give it a try.

Amazon Customer: Bought this book based on such stellar reviews and the authors. Here is what is crucial to know before paying almost $50 for a paperback cookbook. Carnivore diet is radical for a radical fix and I'm in. The book has beautiful full page photos of each recipe. Recipes are quick to make and focus on technique. As an experienced cook and bit of a foodie, browsing through the recipes, I was looking for more than salt as the only listed ingredient to add. Some of the hundred recipes are for other organs like tongue, sweetbread, heart, you get the picture. Some are cooked in smoker. I do not own a smoker. You will need to purchase fresh very good quality meat to get an excellent result because all you are adding is salt!
Am revising this review to 5 star having tried a few recipes. Anything to me with salt tastes better, especially the smoked salt. Short ribs with browned butter was spectacular. Seems to be the best cookbook for those following strict carnivore.

TerrilianTerrilian: The media could not be loaded. Maria and Craig Emmerich’s research into this healing elimination diet shone like a beacon of sanity for me. I took this cookbook (and Dr. Shawn Baker’s and Dr. Paul Saladino’s) book with me to a family Christmas dinner yesterday. We arrived hours before the rest of the family to put this dry-marinated 20-pound prime rib roast in their Viking oven to slowly cook at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 hours after searing it for 45 minutes at 500 degrees, then resting for 30 minutes. These family members are very dear to me but follow completely different lifestyles of utterly eliminating “bad fats” like animal-based saturated fats for a very limited amount of “healthy fats” like coconut and avocado oils. *Sigh*. One of them said that a Keto Diet is what caused their obese neighbor to die from a heart attack (double-*Sigh*) while the other talked about how much their hands hurt from arthritis. At one point, I turned to my husband and read off just a few of the wonderful results of following a Carnivore Lifestyle by the amelioration of arthritis, among a long, two-page list of diseases. At one point, after my relative complimented me on my...

Carmen Bilac: I purchased this book out of curiosity. I was interested in the data. I am a person that would like to lose weight/fat and this book explains how to do that. Eating just protein seemed unusual to me, however like many, I thought that I would give carnivore a try. I have been on keto off and on for years, it seemed like a natural progression, especially since I wasn't eating that many vegetables. I found the information in this book very helpful. I have been on Carnivore for over a month and find it pretty easy, no carvings, eating has become more of a case of fuel, than entertainment.I am curious to see the long term health benefits. I have already noticed that I can breathe and sleep better and my engery has increased and have lost over 10 pounds. I was surprised by the cookbook part, as I didn't realize the variety of dishes that you could create on a protein based diet.

A Horse Lover: I've been a fan of Maria's for a few years and own most (if not all of her books). I fell off the keto wagon for a while because i just stopped losing weight and became discouraged.
In recent years i became aware of the carnivore diet but mostly dismissed it until i read about Jordan Peterson and his daughter which prompted me to look into it a bit more. This book popped up on my recommendations and seeing that it was Maria i plumped (no pun intended) for it.
The premise of the carnivore diet is well...to eat meat and cut out the rest. I wasn't too interested in the recipes...it's just meat afterall. That said she has some suggestions that i hadn't thought of and look really delicious.
I was more interested in her writings on the subject and she does not disappoint. All factual and well referenced. All studies she refers to are cited at the bottom of each page should you want to refer to them.
You are guided through the transition process and advised which starting point may be appropriate for you depending where you are, keto, standard diet, health issues to heal, weightloss etc. Maria gives you shopping lists and menu plans which is handy.

Barry C. Pearson: The basis of the Carnivore Diet is "eat animals; don't eat plants". There are many variants within this theme.
("Animals" in the broadest sense includes mammals, birds, and seafood, and the products of these).
The typical aim of people adopting the Carnivore Diet is to improve their healthy longevity.
This may be as simple as losing weight, but the benefits are often far greater than weight-loss.
This book covers a large range of topics within this theme:
Why and how humans naturally evolved to need and exploit meat (in the broadest sense) for nutritional needs.
The problems that plants can cause to humans because of their biochemical defenses against being eaten.
The physical and mental health problems that can arise from "too much plant food" or "too little animal food".
(Citations to academic and scholarly papers and articles supporting the text are in footnotes).
By far the largest portion of the book is the "Cookbook" theme:
Details of the terminology for the parts of various mammals and birds are given.
Carnivore-based meal-plans are provided for those needing ideas to build their new food-style.
And (especially) there are about...

Haical Sajovic Haddad: After reading Dr. Shawn Baker’s book I got excited to preorder this book and test some of the recipes. Even though it’s the first book I read from Maria and Craig Emmerich, I’m impressed by their clear and honest outlook of the carnivore diet. In fact, I had a hard time putting it down before finishing the first 2 sections. These are the chapters where we learn the science behind the carnivore diet and how to implement it. Following that, the writers share 2 well-organized meal plans. Whereas the first meal plan addresses weight management, the second focuses on an autoimmune protocol. Each meal plan covers dishes for 4 weeks and contains a weekly grocery list. Finally, the last section brings around 100 recipes, including all of the recipes previously mentioned earlier in the meal plans.
Let me break the review down in 3 parts. First, I’ll share essential takeaways from the carnivore diet explained throughout the first sections. Next, some details from the recipes. Last, I’ll share my personal journey through the years.
CARNIVORE PRINCIPLES
Maria and Craig start by sharing the science behind the carnivore diet. For that, they don’t only explain...

jewelshd39: Excellent! Craig and Maria Emmerich's cookbooks are amazing! I only have 3 so far but will definitely continue my collection...I ordered the spiral bound, it's the most expensive option but so much easier than trying to keep the book open with a standard spine... Very pleased with this purchase! 😊
