Anne: I like the ease of which it was to use. The 10" blade is a winner...I sliced a 5lb roast into thin slices of sandwich meat. No complaints.

SS: I initially purchased the slicer to make my own sandwich meat, however now I use it for vegetables and fruit as well. Consistent slices, easy to use, and pretty quiet. The thickness adjusting knob is precise and holds it at the desired thickness.

Take#2 aka my2cents: Have had this item for months now and have been very happy with it. I often purchase a small smoked slab of ham which i then slice myself. It is amazing how many slices you can get off of one piece of ham, and the money saved is unbelievable as well as the fact this is real ham not one of the compressed rolls of ham wannabe. Of course ham is not the only thing that i slice with this machine, all meats, from Salami to roast beef can be sliced to your desired thickness with ease. I have sliced cheeses, just make sure its cold and a good quality cheese like aged cheddar. I have saved plenty of money, over the months by purchasing good quality food, slicing it myself, and freezing what i dont require immediately, this machine has already paid for itself. The clean up is easy, i use a quarter (that i keep taped to the machine) to open the blade holder, i then balance the blade on a crooked finger to wash and dry. The whole machine is then wiped down with a soapy cloth and a tooth brush that i use to clean the crevices of any tiny bits. The food holder has very sharp spikes so i clean that with a tooth brush too. This item is an investment that pays for itself over and over, beats not...

Ryan Love: Starting with the good: it does indeed work and produces pretty decently uniform slices of food and goes quite thick in its cut (not sure I'll use that feature but worth having). It has a good heft to it and it largely made of metal so it is easy to clean and shouldn't be too fragile (though if it hits the floor it'll be done for sure). I'm sure it'll be a mainstay of my kitchen for at least a year before something breaks and I drop the big bucks on a commercial/prosumer level device rather than a (relatively) cheap look-alike. Overall, with the price of deli meats and convenience products like sliced cheese going up and up, this should break even within a year for our household.

Now for the bad: when this appliance arrived the knives were literally the dullest ones in my kitchen. Pretty confident I could have dropped the straight blade on my toes and not broken the skin. Despite this it did cut things, though as anyone with a dull tablesaw blade will attest to: throw enough shoulder and power into a cut and you can get through most anything eventually. Surprisingly the serrated blade was similarly dull, usually the cheap stamped serrated blades have at least a passable...

Whitehall Rez: I've cut a lot of different meats on this slicer. Just don't overload it and pay attention to the duty cycle limit of 10 min. "Shaving" is a bit of an exercise, but 1/8" is doable. Struggles with most cheeses. The serrated blade actually works pretty well on bread. Now crostini is only half the PITA it used to be. (Bread pun AND double-meaning.)

It isn't fun to clean, but it's worth the hassle. I remove the blade and unscrew one end of the guide rod to pull off the slider thingy. (a very technical term.) Then I lift the whole thing and put it blade end up in the kitchen sink. A quick wipe-down with hot soapy water, a quick cold water rinse, dry it with a towel, reassemble and let it dry completely-- 5 minutes.

When I inevitably strip out the aforementioned metal screw from it's plastic-threaded sleeve, I'll probably replace it with a metal-threaded sleeve and a wingnut screw of some type.

P.S. buy some cut-resistant gloves!!!

Jim: Update 06/19/2023: OK, I've used this several times now and still quite happy with it. Nothing new to add excerpt that I would definitely recommend this to any friends looking for a home slicer. Also, putting the slicer on a silicone mat makes a huge difference in stability! Absolutely no sliding as it did on the plain counter (suction cups weren't working too well on the counter, work great on a silicone mat).

I purchased this particular brand/model based upon a review of slicers for slicing home cured/smoked bacon. I used it for the first time this morning to slice up some cottage bacon I had cured and smoked yesterday. As the title says, it made pretty short work of slicing up the bacon.

This is not a commercial slicer, not even close! It's for home use and the instructions say don't operate for more than 10 minutes. It took a little longer than 10 minutes to slice the bacon, especially since as the piece got smaller it tended to stick to the blade. As I pushed forward the it would slice but the flat of the blade would pick up the bacon I was cutting from and it would spin around on the blade. This happened a few times.

The blade cut through the bacon...

Proud Dad: So far so good. I received, opened, cleaned, and used it with some bulk Columbus turkey I bought from Costco.

WASHING TAKES TIME

Take the blade off and wash it with warm soapy water and rinse it. You can use the same soapy water on a rag or towel to wipe down the rest of the machine before use, using a moist dishrag or paper towel to wipe any soap residue off. You can then dry it or let it dry on its own

The blade is razor sharp. Handle carefully. The blade comes off using a quarter or a nickel or anything like a butter knife with 1/8 of a turn to the right of the small plastic Center piece

The operation is easy to understand in the manual and is mostly self-explanatory.

Take the rubber protection piece off the blade first.

I used tin foil to catch the sliced meat

People are talking about the angle of the blade resulting an uneven cuts. They are referring to it being angled vertically from being wider at the top to be more narrow at the bottom. What this results in is only slicing the bottom part of the meat unless you put pressure or tilt the meat slightly to the left so that it is flush to the blade. This is not a big deal and...
