Elsie: I got this specifically because I like using freshly shredded cheese on pizzas, but hate shredding cheese. If I use my box grater, I risk losing some skin; if I use my food processor, I have to run the same batch of cheese through it multiple times to catch all the stray chunks that don't shred. Then, it's a pain to clean; it's hard to disassemble and I then have to spend 5-10 minutes cleaning it by hand (bits of cheese stuck in hard-to-reach crevices), or spread the parts out all over the dishwasher top rack where space is already at a premium.

With the Salad Shooter, I get my cheese in one quick go with no drama. Then I can either wash the small, simple parts by hand in less than a minute, or put them in the dishwasher top rack where they take very little space. I actually make pizza more often now that I have this.

I've used it for mushrooms, carrots and onions (for a soup) just as easily, and am planning to use it next for faster hash browns. My mom had one of these when I was a kid and it's as good as I remembered.

Amazon Customer: Love that you can shred directly into a bowl or a salad or pizza. Works amazing! A little pricey but takes hours off of doing it by hand. Great product! I would give it 5 stars but it only comes with 2 shredding cones which is a bit light for the price. Great for cheese and slicing for the two cones. Don’t really need much else.

Shelly: This product is fantastic for the most part but time consuming to clean if using to grate cheddar cheese. This salad shooter is good quality, sturdy and works very well. It's a bit noisy but not a big problem. I bought it to only grate cheese to save my knuckles and fingers on using a regular box grater but because of the hassle cleaning and the fact I'm lazy, I unfortunately decided it just wasn't worth the cost. If you want a good, solid grating machine that does exactly what it is advertised as doing though, this is fantastic.
