Donna P in MA: This is my first time reading a Fenella novel, and it will be the first of many. I found it interesting, frustrating, intimate and kept me reading. So many twists and turns. Very interesting characters. Two thumbs up.

kathryn: Going nicely along with good character development and lots of "clues" laid out, most of which you know are going to be red herrings. But then the author pulls a ferret out of the hat, not a rabbit. You're not saying "wow, I didn't see that coming!" so much as "WTF???" Crime solved with little to no explanation for where this solution came from, and some of the red herrings left dangling unexplained. Well written until the last 10 pages which left a very unsatisfactory book.

A lover of books: What a really good story. What I liked was how the author allowed you to see in the mind of the characters, even when their minds were completely irrelevant.

karen: I like this kind of book as it is easy to read and quite compelling. I really didn’t realise who the perpetrator was so that was good

Rice: DI Fenella Sallow and her fellow detectives are well drawn characters with their own issues and tensions which provide an interesting backdrop to the crimes, criminals and townspeople they have to investigate.
