HRC: I love this series, so far (I’m currently listening to the 4th book). The characters are likable except when they aren’t supposed to be; Christopher is utterly charming with a great sense of humor, the stories are interesting and the narrator is perfect. I also really appreciate that most (and hopefully all soon) of the books are available as audiobooks. These books are perfect if you’re looking for a lighthearted mystery that holds your interest.

paminocala: Cozy historical mystery that is full of quirky characters. The author has a habit of dropping casual comments throughout the plot that make murder enjoyable. I found plenty of snigger to myself moments through the book.

WelshDragon: I enjoyed this book. The characters are all very different, yet interesting. The plot was wandering all over the place, and the premise, finding the murderer was definitely in place. I had no idea who the murderer was and so was surprised at the end at who it turned out to be. To be honest that is not unusual for me not to have a clue. Still I enjoyed the book and definitely recommend it.

TRIMONTIUM: A wee bit slow to get going whilst everybody is introduced but l enjoyed the relationship between grandad and Chrissie. I look forward to seeing how the characters develop and l did not spot the killer.

Kindle Customer: Lord Edginton was once the most talented and of efficient detectives. The sudden death of his beloved wife caused him to retire to his rooms for a decade. Suddenly the Lord comes out of hiding to announce that he is going to throw a Spring Ball with the assistance of his 16 year old grandson, Christopher. The family does not react well. Against their protests the ball occurs. All goes well until a relative is poisoned. Things go downhill from there, thoùgh there are a few humorous moments. This is a very readable novel with a surprise murderer.

Sehr empfehlenswert!

Banjo: What a fabulous tale about an extraordinary Lord, who was once a revered senior Scotland Yard officer, & a young grandson who’s he’s chosen to teach his “trade”. His large aristocratic family all come under suspicion after 2 murders. The local police have no idea of the truth, but after a wide ranging investigation he reveals the killer.
Nothing prepared me for the truth! But I’m looking forward to following their exciting future cases. Do read it, you’ll find it addictively entertaining!

George O. Romano II: I found this a good start to a series of murder mysteries, and after I finish my George Bellairs books I'll probably buy more. Mostly I prefer books written long ago, but finding a new series that stresses the importance of strong family ties is always good.
