Shield-Maiden: A Journey to Valhalla Under the Hunter's Moon

Sara Cabrol: Karsak's writing is beautiful. It keeps the poetic feel of this Norse Saga while updating it to modern prose with characters so well developed that I feel not only attached to them, but a closeness as if we shared a kinship. I certainly will be reading the remaining three books in this series as the prequel and first two books were all breathtaking.

PG13 for battlefield violence. No sex, no language.

Jennifer: Second book in the series and it's another great book. Questions were answered while more questions came up. While the first was hard to put down, this book had more plot filler that I ended up skimming. This book took longer to finish but still a great read.
Twist, turns, fever tearing through villages, death and love. This book has it all.

Venka Anderson: It's an easy read, and the tale is interesting, but OMG so many words to get to the point! As I'm reading, I'm just skipping sections BECAUSE IT'S SO WORDY! This is volume 2 of 4? Yes, I'll read the next two, as the story interests me, but I'll skim. My ancestry is Norse, so I enjoy this fantasy, a tale of the Norse gods and humans. If it weren't so, this wouldn't hold my interest. I needed something fanciful and far from reality.

Would I recommend? If you're not Scandinavian, it isn't for you.

Ali_life_of_6: Hervor takes us on a journey in this book and grows even stronger. With her father's blessing she finds her place. Lot's of action but also sweet moments. Nook 2 is more than book one but it didn't drag or get boring.

Kindle Customer: I enjoyed book 2 as much as the first book. The story of Hervour, the shield maiden, is getting more exciting, as she finally finds out who her father was and meets her grandfather, the Jarl of Bolsmo. The Isle of Bolsmo is more than it seems, and other Jarls want to take it. Tyrfing, wielded in Hervours hand, helps to keep it safe. I highly recommend this series.

LF: Second in the Road to Valhalla series sees Hervor deciphering deceit and mock friends, working out who is friend and foe, finding her place in Blomso beside the people and her grandfather. Battles are fought, blood is shed, warriors dispatched to Valhalla. Fans of The Last Kingdom and the Circle of Cerridwen will love this series. Solid 5 star read. Highly recommend

Dallass: I devoured this so quickly. It picks up right where it left off in book one, and although I’m a little iffy on historical fiction set back this far, the author did a great job with atmosphere and before long I had been swept away in the story, feeling like I was a bystander watching this unfold. There are a lot of ups and downs as H navigates this new leg of her journey, and by the end of it I had to grab the tissues 😭. Definitely moving on to book three.
