Reader: This book was very interesting. I can see by the writing of book how a social order can make changes .Example the women in the Ramsey clan were taught how to defend themselves. It was slightly arrogant of the men to not see the need for women to learn to take care of themselves.
I give this book a 5star rating.

aly: Overall, I liked this story. As another reviewer mentioned, boy, there are a lot of names. Many are introduced as if we already know them. So, yes, keeping a list helps. I checked descriptions of other books, and these names turn up in other series. So maybe this wasn't the series to start with. Then there was a name introduced that we heard no more of. Since this was the father of one of the lasses, I expected he'd show up, too. He didn't, unless I missed that part in the sea of names who did turn up by the end.

I thought the editing was a little sloppy. Ex. A character is put back into her bed, but is it the bed in the sick room, or is she being returned to the chamber she shares with her cousins? It is important to know because a reader tries to understand what an author means. Ambiguous phrasing does not work to that end. A reader who struggles is probably not a reader who is enjoying herself. There were word errors: missing word, wrong words. And an grammatically incorrect phrasing that was used several times.

As I said, overall I enjoyed this book. It is a good story. I liked that it was a bit different than the usual highland kidnapping stories.

Maine Ah: I saw the reviews, good and bad, and decided to see for myself which it was. It’s a sweet, romantic story with a bit a mystery thrown in that seems to take place sometime prior to Scotland’s Reformation, so maybe the 15th century? It immediately reminded of an early ‘80’s TV show about 7 Brides for 7 brothers. The writing style is smooth, the plot twists, though predictable, are in the right place but there are too many appropriations of contemporary words coming out of the mouths of the characters which makes me cringe. A 15th century man would never say “I need your input”, a man of that period would never suggest he buried someone in a box with a tube for air. So these things are BIG negatives because that’s lazy writing and stars come off.

I have noticed lately in contemporary romance there is a trend to depict men of the Middle Ages through the 19th century as more contemporary in thought by recognizing and acknowledging the abilities of women and thinking of them as equals. Miriam: Though this was an enjoyable story there were parts that I found challenging like when the heroine kissed a complete stranger, parts seemed to be added on the extend the story and the first wedding night. The last chapter was also confusing. I think if an author wants to write historical stories then they should try to keep to the customs of the time. However it’s not my story. Overall there are good aspects to this novel.

Kindle Customer: Another highland story that keeps you interested from start to end. It continues the family story and introduces a new clan to the mix. Well worth reading

Ursula K.: It's hard to pinpoint what I didn't love about this book. It's definitely not the author's best work, and the dialogue just came across as juvenile. I feel like the dialogue between the brothers didn't feel natural and the author was trying too hard. I rated this 3.75, bc, like I said, I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. I like that the heroine Brigid didn't try to fight her feelings for Marcas, and she didn't have any serious personal issues to deal with. Her biggest issue is meeting someone outside of her clan who doesn't know who her father is, so she finally be treated and viewed as a desirable woman without the overprotective brothers and father getting in the way. I also think the story about Marcas's first wife didn't develop as it should have. Also, everyone at the keep hated the first wife and knew she cheated except for Marcas and Shaw? Seems a little farfetched and too convenient that the first wife was apparently very selfish and disliked by most everyone, unbeknownst to Marcas who only finds out when he needs freedom to pursue Brigid. Anyways, it's an ok read. I don't regret reading it, and I think it could easily have been a 4 star book if some of the issues...

lushek: Cette nouvelle série nous ramène en arrière et l'on retrouve Alexander Grant et toute sa famille (au sens large) avec les trois jeunes cousines enlevées par erreur et qui apportent beaucoup de piment à l'histoire. Les dialogues sont très vivants et parfois pleins de sel. Un roman léger avec beaucoup de personnages secondaires dont le fameux Logan, père de l'héroïne et beaucoup trop protecteur de sa fille, ce qui donne lieu à quelques scènes que l'auteure a voulu humoristiques mais que j'ai trouvées trop forcées au point de n'être plus amusantes. Sinon, le reste est vraiment très bon.
