You can do ALOT with it and I'd hate to be on the working end of it in a SHTF Type crisis...

John Ruggiero: Literally one of the best knives I have in my collection. It's sharp, it's a perfect weight, it looks amazing. It cuts great and the grip is outstanding. If someone had any negative things to say about it they're buggin.

SteveC: Got his to use as a firewood knife to keep by the wood stove. I'll use it to baton smaller logs and kindling. The only real downside is that phony black Powder coating. First thing I did was to make kindling out of some dry Lodgepole Pine. After about a half hour the coating was all gone from the swedge and the hollow grind of the blade was filled with small wood particles implanted in the coating. Trying to use something to clean those particles off resulted in spots of the finish under the particles coming off. Birchwood-Casey Blue paste to create a nice black finish. That reduced the batoning effort by at least 50%. I see no real need for the coating they use. A dark blue finish looks black and leaves the knife blade slick for easy cutting.
The blade was pretty sharp out of the box. Surprisingly, the included diamond stone does work pretty well. A minute or so with my regular sharpening tools made it sharp enough to shave with. The grind was well done, even, and centered. For the price I was prepared for it to be otherwise. The handle is pretty comfortable for my reasonably large hands.
If I were to do this again, I'd opt for the next series up with a 7" blade and...

jbrianb: I'm a bit of a knife junky... I used to hoard folders for use, but as more and more of my excursions are getting into remote country, I've come to realize I need to carry a fixed blade. As my father used to say about his preference for simplicity inside the cabin of a car or truck... shunning electric windows, automatic transmissions, etc., as "one more thing to break." We can examine the logic or the psychology behind my father and cars, but when it comes to knives, this is a true statement. Folders are more vulnerable than fixed blades. Moving on...
Overall this is a very nice knife -- FOR THE MONEY -- which is a critical caveat. Here are the pros and cons...
The good:
- Bombproof. This is a hardy knife. Thick spine, good steel, durable design (the point doesn't look apt to chip off due to its design).
- Feels good in the hand. Ergonomics are above average. Scales are slightly grippy and textured without being obtrusive. NOTE: YMMV especially if you have large or small hands. I wear a large glove size, but I'd call my hands medium sized and it feels good to me.
- Comes with nice goodies. The ferro rod (with striker) and the diamond sharpener that fit into...

Brendan Lancaster: This is a great budget knife. For the price, I can't imagine a better product. The blade thickness is huge, just about a 32nd shy of a 1/4 inch and feels great in the hand.
Pros:
1. Very heavy duty. I haven't used this knife for very long, but I've done a fair amount of chopping and batoning with it and it has held up perfectly well. My previous knife was very poor quality, and ended up breaking in half on me with some light work. You could hack away with this thing all day and it won't break on you. At least not from my experience.
2. The handle has good grip and is safe. This may not be the world's most comfortable handle, but its not uncomfortable. There's really no risk of this slipping out of your hand, or cutting yourself on the blade. I especially like the finger notch just below the cutting edge. Great for getting in nice and close to do detailed work. Gives you great control.
3. Full Tang. The full tang on this knife is great. It extends past the butt of the handle giving you something to pound on without causing any damage.
4. 90 degree spine. The spine on this is great for striking a ferro rod. It'll also scrape off fine shavings and wood fibres for...
