T-dub: My apartment got invaded after a problem with a sewage back-up. So, I wanted a butter dish to keep the critters out of my butter. I use butter quite a bit for toast and cooking. What I like about this Rubbermaid butter dish is that it snaps shut securely when I put the lid on it. The big plus is that it is unbreakable. My clumsy self would drop a glass one and break it. It is easy to clean. I usually just spray it down with hot water to get the butter residue off and then wash it down with some soap.

Richard Tomaszewski: I dropped my glass butter tray and while it would have survived the fall on a carpeted floor it did not survive the two halves striking each other. What a mess picking out glass shards and butter from carpet. Growing up my parents had a Rubbermaid plastic butter tray and I thought it would be great to get one as I always liked it. It always sealed up well so I didn't have to worry about bugs or dust getting in my butter. Plus it's plastic so it won't break when dropped and the lid snaps on so even the butter would be contained. Unfortunately this is not like the ones they used to make. It's one step up from a single use plastic container, much more flimsy than they used to be. It doesn't really snap together like the old one did. This one kind of lightly snaps together but it's not staying together in a fall or going to be well sealed. As a matter of fact, the base is actually warped in a U shape so it never seals up right and rocks on the table. Now most people will be fine with all this because they don't know any better and it basically works but as someone who had an older one which was of significantly better quality it's just another depressing example of how poorly things...

Cate E.Cate E.: We bought this to use in our RV, I didn’t want to use glass or metal, and the plastic one I had before was a bit small. I love that this one seals & it didn’t slide off the counter when we traveled from the eastern shore of Maryland to western Kentucky! It’s in our house now & the red goes with the red accents in my kitchen. Love it!

Toni: The red was the exact color I wanted. It's durable and the lid fits well. The size is perfect for a stick of butter. Cleans well in the dishwasher. Great value!

Justin Tuffy: It is just as it's called a butter dish. I bought it because I am one person don't go through butter too fast so I buy the sticks and this keeps them fresh for me.
It also matches all the other rubbermaid containers I have.
