JK: This butter dish is functional and cute! The water spout serves as a nice handle to lift the lid and the measurement marks looks like fish bones. The first one that arrived had a broken tail but it was easy to report and get a replacement shipped out, which arrived in perfect condition.

Nancy L. Gleason: Needed a dish for Kerrygold butter…the larger one Costco carries. My son has a DOWAN dish that apparently is no longer made for this. The whale is sort of cheesy but it works. Not fond of the blue but it’s all they had on Amazon. I like the marked base and the raised end which helps keep the butter in place since my family can’t seem to put a lid on without getting the butter all over it.

Amazon Customer: This butter dish is extremely cute. That said, the quality isn't the best. The base didn't sit flat, it rocked a bit on the centre ridge on the bottom. The spout was a little twisted and didn't line up straight in relation to the tail and nose. The main problem was the rocking though. I had to decide whether to spend the time arranging a return and dropping it off at the Amazon collection point, or try to sand down the centre ridge myself. I decided to sand it and it took a lot longer than I thought it would! In the end that helped a lot but it still doesn't sit perfectly flat, and I managed to put light scratches in the glaze on the bottom. I decided that they money spent on this item is for the cuteness factor and not for the quality. If you think minor imperfections add character to a product then you will probably be very happy with this butter dish.
