Rosonway 5-Port Aluminum USB Hub with Powered USB Expansion

Defective, suspect that there is no circuit protection to prevent current from passing from the powered hub through the PC's USB port to the Mainboard! I know this is happening as different brands of powered hubs do not do this, and because the Processor and Case fans which are connected to the Mainboard for power keep running even if I unplug the computer as long as this 'Rosonway USB Hub' is still connected to the USB port of the machine while powered!

I believe this will damage my computer and am quite furious about this issue!

Conclusion:
I am a Server and PC technician with 38 years of experience and education building and repairing/maintaining computers having built or worked on thousands of them, so I am not some novice guessing what may be wrong.

I asked if anyone else had this issue but no one understood the question and assumed I had for some demented reason connected fans to the hub directly! I will be returning this item as soon as posible! I have 2 other 'Rosonway USB Hubs' that I purchased some time ago, too long ago for a return, that I will be contacting the seller about. Tim: I bought the 10-port version of this powered USB hub about a year ago and have been very happy with it, so when I needed a smaller hub for my work laptop, I bought this five-port version. Both units seem very solid and well-built, especially for the inexpensive price point. I like that I can individually turn on and off connections without having to unplug USB cables, and they have a nice, sleek modern look, too. I also appreciate that they're pretty weighty for their size and have rubber pads on the bottom, making them stay in place on my desk better than hubs I've had in the past. All in all, I can't say a negative thing about these hubs and highly reccommend them.

Amazon Customer: Lost two stars because it backfeeds power into my cpu, causing it to not start when plugged in. Haven't found a solution yet. Asked the seller about it and they've completely ignored me.

Build quality is top notch. All the connections are tight. The buttons work good, the lights aren't too bright. It looks very nice. So far it has worked without issue.
Only complaint is the little buttons are too curvy. If you have fingers bigger than a lego man action figure would, then it feels weird to push on them. They are also a little crooked when pressed in. Otherwise it's perfect.

DW: Bought this to replace a plastic one from a different manufacturer that one day went pop. So I really like the quality and feel of it. The metal definitely is an upgrade from the plastic one I had. I leave this plugged in all day does not get very warm at all. I'm able to plug in scanner, hard drive and mouse and all are working fine. The only thing I noticed was when I pugged it into a port on my PC next to a bluetooth dongle, it created some transmission issues. To fix this I plugged the BT dongle on the back side of the computer and problem solved. The interference was probably caused by the Hub using USB3.0, whereas as my previous one did not.

Brian B.: This product looks very premium, and I was impressed with the build quality of this device. However, there is one major flaw that can turn your day upside down when utilizing this device as a USB extension for your computer.

When plugging this device into my computer and loading into Windows 10, you will get a blue screen letting you know that there was a problem with your machine, and that it will attempt to restart in order to fix the issue. What will happen afterwards is an endless cycle of rebooting into the same blue screen letting you know that there was an issue with your computer.

The error code you will most likely receive is: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. I disconnected all of my peripherals to make sure it wasn't anything else, and I pinpointed it to this device causing the error. In order to resolve this issue without going out to buy a new drive, you will need to go to the windows support website and download a fresh windows 10 copy to an empty USB drive.

You will then have to boot into your BIOS by pressing F2 or the DELETE key and make sure the computer boots into the USB drive before your actual harddrive. From here, you can restore your...

danno101: The little hub is pretty good. The arrangement and spacing of ports allow different styles of thumbdrives/plugs to be inserted without interference. The power and data input connections are on the end of the unit and makes it easier to manager cords.
On-off switched for each port make removing usb accessories easier than waiting for Windows to give you permission. Data transfers are very fast compared to my previous unit. An aluminum case gives this hub a better higher quality feel and durability.
the quick charge port is very convenient and does a great job. My cell charges faster with this connection than it does with the mfr quick charge adapter.
The only fault I can find is that the little blue indicator lights to show the energized ports are hard to see, primarily because of placement. This is not a deal breaker for me though. All in all an excellent value.
