jonathon: So there's a learning curve for sure. 1st off don't start with your favorite childhood video game or CD. Start with something you don't mind destroying and figure it out for yourself. 2nd: Buy a 9v power supply and pay attention that it comes with the right connector, or get one of the ones that has the interchangeable connectors. Using on battery power is sluggish and borderline unsatisfactory, especially considering how many this uses. I ordered a Power Supply but bought one with a smaller barrel connector than this requires, and therefore I disassembled it, soldered in the power supply wiring directly, and epoxied up to seal it. Now it works like a gem. 3rd: use lots of water. Drench that mf. Be sure to keep it wet as it cycles around. 4th: don't use the included cloths. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but ultimately even following their directions exactly lead to having to repeat the machine step. Just don't use them. Wet. Machine. Dry with a soft microfiber gently. Test or repeat as needed.

Dionne: This is a review from my 14 yesr old grandson who is using the product:
I've had the skip DR. for about a week, and I think it's working pretty well. I needed to resurface several discs, and it has done a decent job so far. The main issues I've had with it are that I resurfaced a couple of discs and they work for the most part, but then randomly throughout the game, my consle will say it doesn't recognize the disc. I am assuming that this is more of a consle issue ( because if I just take the disc out and put it back in without even touching it, the game keeps playing) which is why I am giving it a 4 star. I have resurfaced a disc close to 20 full rotations and it still has plastic, but still has issues playing, because it has deeper scratches. so I dont know how many times to use the skip DR without breaking the disc. Since the Skip DR
only removes a very little part of the disc, it takes FOREVER if ever to get deeper scratches out. But all in all this product does what it says it should so I would recommend.

Andy: Batteries do not last long so use a power plug which is much better. Has fixed many discs except one which was super deeply scratched but works well overall. But pricy especially the replacement wheel.

Rob: Didn't quite finish a full rotation, could've been flat batteries, but ignoring that, even with what it did, the restored DVD worked and worked well.

Quite impressed.

A.Wilson: I started with the hand cranked version as it was cheaper and I was skeptical after reading all of the reviews. I figured if it could help even just 3-4 movies that would have otherwise needed to just be replaced then it was worth it, it worked great after I got the hang of how to use it and I deviated from the directions a little. I decided to invest in this one as we have a couple hundred, more or less, kids movies. This one is even better because I am hands free so it can keep going while I spray it to keep it wet. The wetter the better! Thats where I deviated from the directions, they say to "spray lightly then let it make 2 evolutions around then take it out and wipe then buff" I started by experimenting on a couple of disks that I knew were not fixable because the backs of the disks were scratched as bad as the front. I don't like how little spray they include but any spray made for cleaning eyeglasses (the kind thats safe for plastic lens') works just as well. If it gets even a little dry it will make the disk hazy with the sanding, if it's kept really wet it works great! I spray heavily before starting then keep spraying the top as it comes around to go down again. I do...

Renrut50: I bought this to attempt to fix an XBOX 360 NCAA Football 14 disc that had stopped working, probably due to scratches, etc. Replacement discs are like $150, so I thought I would give this repair device a try before forking over $150 to someone for another used disc.

The unit itself was well-packaged, and the instructions were pretty straightforward. I wetted the disc sufficiently (and rewetted while in the machine) and ran it through probably 3 revolutions, maybe a little more than what was suggested. Then I dried it with the blue cloth and buffed it with the white square, formly but not too aggressively. Put it in the XBOX 360, and it no longer even recognized the disc at all. Disappointing. I packed up the unit to return to Amazon but then thought I would give it one more try (again to avoid forking over $150 to someone).

I inspected the disc, and it seemed to me, maybe I am wrong, that it had not done the repair all the way out to the edges of the disc. So I repeated the process and this time but a light leverage pressure on the disc to make sure the cleaning wheel was really hitting the outer edges. I dried the disc and this time buffed with the white square a...
