Meshelly Lynn: I bought a Wii console and games at a garage sale and the discs were so scratched up I couldn’t play them. My boys were super disappointed so I bought this in hopes of repairing the games to their former selves and it worked like a charm!!! Now both my sons can play on the Wii and the games worked perfectly- we moved on to restoring old dvds so we can watch them in the car - this is definitely a handy tool to have to restore all the things before it went digital…

Ted: very flimsy, needs to be held down to work. The kit works with the spray and cloth. I had to run the CD a few times to get a working surface. worth a try if you want a specific CD to work.

Mark: When you buy this, you need to know several things, and have realistic expectations. I have used this to repair several disks that skipped badly and could not even be played in a computer DVD drive with success. But you need to go into this with realistic expectations an understanding of how the process works.

Firstly, skips are caused by several things, including a failing laser in a DVD or Blu-Ray, but they are generally caused by DEEP scratches. All those little surface scratches you see don't really hurt anything, but DEEP scratches scatter the laser, and that causes skipping. You can remove ALL of the superficial surface scratches, and still have skips if there are DEEP scratches. So depending on how badly it is scratched, it may not be salvageable. The disk is read in a circular path, so circular scratches are the worst. Scratches that go from the edge to the middle (perpendicular to the path of the laser beam) don't cause skipping generally.

Secondly, this product only has a VERY fine grit surfacing pad. It will quickly remove minor scratches and polish the disk, but it will take more time to remove (or more correctly lessen the degree of) deeper scratches. If...

B. Ryves: I've tried a number of different solutions when it comes to repairing DVDs (including manually polishing with Brasso and similar hand-cranked tools that polish in a circular motion rather than radially) and I've had the best results with the SkipDr. It hasn't been able to fix every disc I've tried but it has helped me with a most scratched discs that were previously unreadable, and it's much quicker and less messy than manual polishing attempts.

The device's wheel polishes from the centre of the disc outward. This leaves radial marks on the surface of the disc (it will not look "like new", and if the original scratch was restricted to a small part of the disc it will probably look worse than it did before being run through the SkipDr). However, DVD players will typically cope with this sort of mark much better than they will with a circumferential scratch that is aligned with the data track, and the SkipDr does a good job of smoothing out those scratches. It may however take a few cycles to repair deeper scratches, and very deep scratches may be beyond the SkipDr's capabilities - a recent second-hand purchase had two deep circumferential scratches (presumably scratched by...

K.G: This is for you! This repair system is

1 compact can fit about anywhere

2 this machine has a very reasonable price for what it does

3 allthough it wont last forever the base of it will so you can get refill packs for about 35% less then the original price of the machine itself so dont throw it away all of it can be replaced keep the base also keep the plastic spray bottles top since the refill kit comes with a normal topped bottle then just replace the spray top and exchange it onto the filled bottle of solution!

4 this machine really works! and heres how to prove it I scratched up a playstation disk (on purpose) I put it data side up down and scratched it up against the walls untill i could made sure it wouldent work I tested it out it couldent even reconize it was a playstation disk! and so I put it in for about 3_5 cycles and wow it does leave radial marks this is normal and the scratches were still visable though slightly less there I thought it wouldent work but to my amazment it worked better then when i tested it before scratching it allmost like new!

5 one disk can be repaired several times maybe through one whole wheel 50 cycles before...
