Storeys Guide to Raising Sheep, 5th Edition is a must-have for any animal lover looking to breed, care, and provide facilities for sheep. Written by Paula Simmons, an expert in veterinary medicine, this book is of the highest quality in terms of binding and pages, making it easy to read and full of knowledgeable advice. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced farmer, this book is the perfect guide to raising sheep. RMK100RMK100: I purchased this book to share with a friend who is new to sheep as she was looking for a good reference guide.
It is a fine introductory book for beginners but be sure to read carefully. As you can see from the photo, some of the editing is definitely incorrect. I have yet to find a ewe that can breed in Feb. and Lamb in April…
I haven’t found any other big errors, but this could be very confusing to a beginner!

Felicia Lusterino: Excellent experience with this transaction, thank you!
The book is a wonderful reference, I've raised goats for 30 years and you'd think they'd be si.ilar enough, but this book is incredibly useful. From shearing tips, to bathing, meat verse milking varieties, nutritional tips. Gosh I wish I purchased sooner. I only have a small family heard of 5 sheep and on lamb. I didn't have the heart to have one of my ramb lamb butchered last season, and he's too big now, but so lovable. I intended to have two mating pairs of 2 kinds of sheep. But one ewe has two rams I just couldn't part with my Hamshire ram lambs (one is pure white hazel eyes & other is traditional color cream and brown face) they are so lovable. My ewe not as much, people I bought her from didn't handle her much. I bought my ram lams at 2 & 4 weeks & we handled them all the time & so did the guy & his sons I bought them from.

maggieb: I am very much a newbie when it comes to raising sheep. I have seen some other Story's guides and found them useful and comprehensive. This one did not disappoint, I love all of the topics it touches on. It isn't just a here is how to take care of sheep and this is a list of diseases. This book suggests appropriate fencing, delves into fleece types and breeds. It even touches on livestock guardian dogs and herding dogs. It can't cover every topic to the fullest extent, but it gives you enough information to understand how all the pieces fit together when raising sheep, some topics may need more investigation and research on the reader's part. I am enjoying this book though.

JJ K: This is a good book for raising sheep. I bought myself a breeding trio of sheep and realized I needed more info! This book is it! It covers practically every aspect of raising sheep, from shelter to feed to breeding and beyond.
