Starting when James Herriot a newly qualified Vet arrives in the Dales for his first job and meets his rather eccentric new boss , his dour housekeeper and pack of dogs. It's not long before he's thrown in the deep end treating the Dales folks animals , whilst barely understanding what they say. A lovely life affirming humorous book , suitable for all readers. I literally laughed out loud.
