caitlyn: This book is amazing! It's so informative and there are some medical terms but it is written very well to where you can understand it. I'm a newbie to the cattle industry and I feel like just from skimming through this book I already know alot more than I did before!

Emma: Absolutely love this book!! Bought it for my partner recently and now he always has a flick through it before he calls the vet!! And does a little night reading with it instead of scouring the internet for multiple and numerous nonsense ideas/answers!?! 🙄 This book is direct and on point, perfect for any farmer!!! 😍

Anna: Very good book. From nuts to bolts and everything in between. It covers a huge range of concerns and issues a rancher may encounter.

The Rancher's Wife: Very handy book to have. We raise a few bummer bottle calves each year. The type that we only get because they are nearly dead anyway and the rancher gives us to them to try to save, and keep if we do. We are more than 100 miles from the vet, so we need to be able to assess and help the babies as best we can, or lose them. This book is pretty thorough on most cattle emergencies, diseases and plenty of preventative ideas. It is in a format that pretty much anyone can understand and learn from. I'm sure this will be a go to book each year when the new babies who come in with something unusual each year. I would recommend this book highly to ANYONE who raises cattle, from a couple bottle babies, to a very large herd.

Harmony: Well, this was a spur of the moment buy, but I'm glad I did, because I had a heifer calf who looked to be showing signs of pneumonia and since I didn't have a cattle medical book, I was really worried about her. I've read some of Smith Thomas's other livestock material and they've been good, so when I came across this, I was really happy. It's come in handy since it was bought, as (besides helping me check for the symptoms of pneumonia) it also helped me confirm a diagnosis of Cystic Ovarian Disease (COD) in my broodcow. For anyone wanting an easy to follow comprehensive guide to cattle medical care, I would strongly recommend this book.

COLORO FARMS: Excellent book for any cattle rancher! The author, Heather Smith Thomas, has walked the walk and raised more than 6000 calves since 1967. A rancher herself Ms Thomas has produced a very practical and easy to read health handbook for raising cattle. Jammed packed with excellent illustrations, drawings and medical reference footnotes--this has to be the best cattle-health handbook on the market! My book is so worn and a little manure covered I'm purchasing a new one and the return on investment will be worth the hard cash outlay. My cattle are my children and it was so rewarding to find an author that feels the same way. Well written book and superbly published. Forget the other handbooks, I've read most of them--then a cattleman loaned me this book and I was amazed, gratefull and hooked! The sun will fade the cover and manure will stain the pages but your cattle will know they are loved and well cared for, not to mention the financial payback from reduced vet bills and your own stress! Thank you Amazon and please send Ms Thomas my kind regards and gratitude.
