AMA: I like to include barley in my homemade vegetable beef soup recipe. This allows for it to be included without much effort and it is always tender.

George Wiltel: I have a love hate relationship with this product. I prefer standard pearl barely that takes a good hour to cook. When I can't find that or don't have and hour for a slow simmer I use this. It is not anywhere near the same consistancy so dont over cook it.
