BigLife: We live in a city with filthy-tasting water of abysmal quality . We love and rely on our PUR PLUS pitcher - purchased in 2020 - for fresh, clean-tasting water. It’s always full and lives in the fridge. Every time I pour myself a glass, I literally think ‘I love this simple device so much, I’ve got to write a review’. It’s easy to keep clean and the flashing light on the lid telling us when to change the filter still works, even though I’ve washed the lid many times (though I don’t submerge, of course). If ever this one bites the dust, without a question, I’ll buy another.

Hz: The place I live has highly chlorinated water, which understandably doesn't taste that great and isn't the best for you either. We had been buying bottled water for a while until I brought up water filters. After some research we decided to get a pitcher and settled on this one. We have only had to swap the filter I believe once over months of near constant use. The only problem is that when the top part is too full, unfiltered water will also come out and the pour can get messy. Other than that, don't try to jam the lid on backwards for two minutes like I did when first assembling it, remember to soak the filters before putting them in to avoid a bunch of particles floating in your water, and you're golden.

I bought this PUR filter because of the certifications it has for filtering out contaminants, but it is extremely slow. It took 2 hours and 50 minutes to drain the top reservoir. I think that's way too long to be practical, especially since you can't pour out the filtered water if the top reservoir has too much, even if you hold the lid tight, because some will spill out of the fill hole which mixes unfiltered water with the filtered. Filtering out more contaminants than others is great, but if you have to wait too long, it doesn't really matter.
UPDATE 11/15/2022 - the filter is sped up dramatically since I first started using it, so I now give it 5 stars. I haven't timed it, but waiting for the filter is no longer an issue, and the water tastes great. It might be good to be aware that it may take a few days before it flows properly. It's definitely slower than a Brita, but it's also filtering out more contaminants.

We have been paying for a 5-gal water dispenser and 4-5 bottles per month for probably 17 years. The price of the bottles just kept going up and up. But it was the best-tasting water ever. With trepidation, I tried the Pur water pitcher at my daughter's house in MA earlier this year. I was sold! The water was delicious (meaning tasteless)!
When I got back home in AZ, I ordered one immediately. The water seemed to taste a little "thick" like well water, but my husband and I gradually got used to that, and it tastes amazingly clear and light now.
The only problem is the design of the lid. I almost decided to return it until my husband figured out what was wrong with it—two things, actually. First, you have to actually open and hold open the lip closure over the spout. Otherwise, it wants to close, and the water comes out at all angles—everywhere but your glass! Second, if you pour water while there is still water in the reservoir waiting to be filtered, you'll have an even bigger mess than I mentioned in the first issue! The only way around that is to hold the top on tight with one hand and lift and hold the flap over the spout up while you pour....

Kindle Customer: We had a Pur water filter for years and wanted to replace it with a larger one. Please do not be dissuaded by the reviews that say the lid doesn't fit or the filter doesn't fit or that the water spills when you pour it. The lid fits perfectly if you put it on correctly. The water will not spill if you don't overfill it and wait until it's completely filtered before pouring a glass. The filter does fit if you put it in the right way. Basically there are a lot of possibilities to get this wrong if you don't take the time to read the directions and put everything together correctly. But if you follow the directions, you will LOVE this water filter!

Peter L: I immediately noticed a difference in taste between this filter and the Brita filter. This one is far superior, the water tastes and feels pure. The only reason why I opted for this one is the fact it can remove lead. Only drawback is how long it takes to filter water but I don't notice because I just refill it before it ever gets empty. We'll worth the wait either way. Highly recommend it.

Of course it's going to dribble water all over if you fill it to the brim and then only angle it 10 degrees. Within a few days I'd learned to simply tilt the pitcher more, and fill glasses more quickly than usual. No more dribbling. This is the downside of having a huge pitcher. But a huge pitcher is awesome for using the Pur lead filters because they filter water really, really slowly.
But yes, in a perfect world, this thing would be engineered to not drip when used the same way any other pitcher is, despite it's size. In practice, I am perfectly happy with it, have not spilled water at all in the last month, and am glad I bought the big one. We still have to refill the large pitcher a few times a day just for two adults... a good indication it has done wonders to improve the taste of our awful local water.
