Dan Kane: IMO, these are the best reels for your money. I have tried many reels over the years. These are consistently what I buy now. Ice fishing or open water, I used them for everything. Just make sure you order the right size for your application. Smaller numbers have less capacity. So for panfish or ice fishing use the smaller sizes.

C. Barnett: The reel is smooth, but mine has an annoying click somewhere. Best I can tell is it's coming from the thumb grip. Not worth returning to me so I'll just keep fishing with it. To be fair, the click could be coming from my jacked up old hands or elbows LOL.

kb: I have a bunch, size 20-35. Quality is up there with the more expensive reels on the market without the high price tag. I kayak fish so its just a matter of time before it gets dunked, and losing an expensive reel will just hurt too much. (Yes I tether, but accidents happen). The 20's work good in the winter for ice fishing in sub freezing temperatures.
