Get the best of all worlds with the KastKing Royale Legend GT Baitcasting Reel.Kindle Customer: It's now 2020 and I have been using this reel over 4 years now, it's the second one I've bought, (I bought one last year), I go carp fishing, My lake has carp up to 25lb and this little beastie knows, they handle big fighting carp with ease. I fish unconventionally in that I use this with an 11ft puddle chucker and float fish with the reel underneath. Never has they let me down, nor has it made any strange noises, I'd give it more than 5 stars if'n I could. Note, at end of year 2 it started grinding a bit but stripped it down and flushed out the old grease, new grease throughout still works a dream. I do this with all my reels anyway, often get grit in the level wind mechanism. I've never had line go behind the spool like I do with my other multipliers. great reel thanks Kastking!! There are others on the market for a lot less dosh but there ain't no such thing as a free lunch, you get what you pay for. I see there's a later model out now but my pair are still good, but I may be tempted, watch this space..

Craig 4783: Right, I'm going to be honest. I wasn't expecting much, but how wrong I was! I do alot of lure fishing from ultra light to big jerk baits, this was going to be a stop gap reel until I got another Abu but tbh, this reel easily performs just as good. Build quality and ease of use is spot on. I have already orderd another 2 of these for future use, also a friend of mine used it and immediately asked me to get him one, for the price tag you can't fall off. I would say, spend the time in getting the brakes etc set up right and it is a joy to use, lots of handy tips on YouTube if your new to baitcaster reels. Again in all honesty I don't know how they make this at the price, landed fish 18lb on this, and it performed great.

J S.: So i have been using this reel for a few weeks now. Ive used on the Thames, canals, and mostly small waters. I used it with some 10lb mono line.
I find its generally a good real. However, at times, it makes funny noises when casting, and the line locks up every now again. Although this is my first ever bait caster, after 2 short sessions, i was able to master long casts, and small precise casts very quickly. This was partly skill (fished all my life) but also this reel. Its so easy to use, it makes lure fishing a real pleasure. The reason i have rated it lower stars is due to what i think is a quality control issue. My brother has a more expensive model and his reel has now failed totally (bail arm doesn't click into place when turning the reel handle, ball bearings are making a strange noise). I know there's something wrong my with reel, but it seems intermittent and i can live with it. I think next time, i will have the experience to buy something more expensive and reliable, but for anyone looking to start using one of these reels, this is a great purchase!

kikstand: Well, just some background.... I own about 30-35 baitcasters of various quality/price. Quantum pt tours, Shimano curados, BPs pro qualifiers, h2o express mettles...Etc. I fish for bass, the occasional tournament, and I also fish inshore in my kayak- also the occasional tournament.
My problem has been finding a decent quality baitcasters that I can use in the salt, but won't break my heart if I lose it to a flip over or an over zealous Spanish mackerel or shark. So after several other experiments, I have broken down and given this reel a shot, based solely on reviews.
Upon unboxing, the royale is a solid, attractive reel. It reeled smoothly, and the spool spun freely. I strung it up with my preferred inshore line and felt pretty good about my purchase. I didn't get a chance to take it out in the salt yet, but I have done a fair amount of shoreline bass fishing with it, and on first use, the reel needed lubing. So second trip, after oiling the bearings and re-greasing the gears, it performed ok. A solid caster, with a slight tendency to backlash with lighter lures. So I adjusted the centrifugal brakes to "all on" (which is crazy...I'm normally a "2" on kinda guy...but...

The Judge: Brilliantly made for price but no instructions to set up for a beginner with baitcasting reels . Advise go to Youtube ; plenty of videos there to assist set up on Kastking reels such as this one . Only one other point-- star drag works / adjusts counter intuitively, ie anti -clockwise " increases " drag settings .Settings that I have found ok for casts are 1 and 3 centrifugal [ opposites of a pair ] brakes set internally-- magnetic brake to 6 plus spool spindle end thrust set for a slow drop in " freespool " to match lure weight in use . I can honestly say no birds nests developed during over 100 casts up to 40 to 50 yards

justin: Really quite pleased with this reel. took a bit longer to arrive than stated. put it to the test as soon as it was in my hands and was catching fish immediately. the magnetic brake systems work very well and are super easy to adjust according to your lures. for the price i am very happy with this reel. i give it four stars because the delivery was a bit slow and i didn't have it for my fishing trip and also it has a very plastic feel to it but then it is cheap. Overall though I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap baitcaster, this one will last me a good number of years for sure

ToriphilewillToriphilewill: To make this review helpful, everyone should try and learn a baitcast reel. It will take some time, but I find myself using it as my primary reel.
Setup and Use:
I used 20# braid. When securing the braid, the cylinder does not have holes to tie the fishing line to prevent slipping. I used electrical tape to secure the knot around the cylinder. -1/2 star.
The reel works very smooth for me. I have only had a handful of times when reeling where I felt that the crank would not turn. It felt like it was jammed or stuck. I pressed the release and turned the crank again and everything worked smooth. Five times out of a thousand or two thousand casts is not bad, just worth mentioning.
This reel as the name indicates is a baitcaster. I find that larger, heavier jigs are best suited for this type of reel, when compared to a spincast or spinning reel. I am able to throw twice the distance of a spincast, and maybe the same as my spinning reel. The baitcast reel is much lighter and makes all day fishing easier on the back and arms.
Technique:
Adjust the tension knob so that when you press the release and drop your jig, the spool does not have any line pop up...
