I like this new lighting it has intensity adjustments so my fish are not in one strong white light only . The MaximThe Maxim: I bought this for a newly seeded/planted dirted 15 gallon tall aquarium and it gets to the bottom just fine. I'm just barely done with the cycle of the tank (approximately 2 months) and I have just completed the 1st top trim and clipping plant. You can see the "new growth on the red plants" they are all doing great!

Mark Ruggiero: We "bought again" replacing a 5 year old identical light. The switch failed in that light, but otherwise it served well. This light has an updated switch, mounted in the cord, not the unit itself, we'll see and we hope it holds up better. Lots of brightness settings, and combinations of the blue and white lights.

Jon: I wanted to add a review for the timer since it was bundled on this product page:

I had used $5 timers with $6 dimmers for a while (cheapest I could find). Then I moved up to the Current USA Single Ramp Timers, which are twice the price of these and only have one "On" period. So I was very happy to find that NICREW had released some new timers at half the price of the ones I normally use.

The instructions were pretty good, but they leave out that the timer will start the next programmed section if using the "Sunrise and Sunset" mode. I programmed everything around 4pm so that the lights should have been on at 25% from noon to 5pm (L2). But when I saved my programming, the lights did not turn on until it hit my next programming section (L3) at 5pm. It's not an issue now that I understand it, but I thought it was broken at first.

I really like that I can get a 24-hour effect with the timer. While it doesn't let me control the colors of the light, it does let me run the light at different brightness levels throughout the day. So I can have the light turn on fairly dim in the morning to let me feed fish before going to work. Then I can have it off during the day...

Carla: Great, inexpensive aquarium light. I initially bought it for one of the 10 gallons, but, I decided to use them on my 2.5 gallon. They are perfect for either really. Obviously in the 2.5 gal the light extends almost the whole length of the tank, which it wouldn't do on the 10 gal. This is in reference to the small size. They really seem as if they were "made" for the 2.5 gallons though. And they are fab. However, keep in mind that this will raise the water temp of such a small tank. I had the lights on and then added a heater as the weather is starting to get a chill in the air. I thought that the temp getting up to 84+ on my Betta's tank was a bit high for my liking. It may have even been 85+, I don't recall, but with the glass cover on the tank, the light, and the heater, it was a bit much so I started turning the heater off in the day time and the light on. Then late at night, I shift to the blue, plug the heater back in and then switch off the light for the night. Simple easy way to ensure the water is at an optimal temp (IMO) for the betta (more like 80 is what it seems to have been recently, but today is Oct 1 in the Chesapeake Region, so the temps will start to drop soon and...
