Our evaporative cooler is designed to provide you with the best overall performance, value for money and maneuverability. Enjoy a cool and comfortable environment in your home with the NewAir AF-1000W.samuel shin: This will work if you want to reduce really hot temperature by a few degrees. Not sure how they expect you to fill up the water tank as it's built into the unit. You need a hose or put it in the sink somehow but the unit is very large. The tank holds 20L so a large watering can could work but would be time consuming and an extra unnecessary step. It's also very big & heavy, esp with water, and doesn't have proper handles. I needed to lug it upstairs and it was very difficult and leaked water. Cheaply made. It mainly blows room temperature air unless you put ice cubes in it but even then I can't imagine it being that much better. I'd rather spend an extra $150 and buy an actual portable AC unit. My first time buying an evaporative cooler so now I know. But I'm sure other ppl are where I was. Returning it.

Controlled Chaos: Update: These are so great I ordered more and each one is fantastic and works perfectly!
This just showed up after I grabbed a great deal on it. It also showed up on the warmest day we had so far so I put it right to the test.
First, it’s no louder than an air conditioner with just the fan running (not the compressor). Secondly, the volume of air it moves is incredible. Remote and all controls are perfect. Thirdly, if you add water 💦 it’s instantly blowing cold air. Then, I added ice cubes...ha ha.... air at the vent was 55 degrees. I live in the northwest where there is hardly humidity all summer. But this little guy will make the patio and outdoor cottage wonderful.
Conclusion is that this will work well and be enjoyed. I totally recommend it! So very happy 😊!

Amazon Customer: Does not cool as much as expected. Tried ice cubes in basin with water to see if it helps. It does a little. It is as good as a fan. It is very loud. Would not purchase it again or recommend this.

Amy Day: I see a lot of negative reviews for evaporative coolers from people who don't understand how they work and that they're not the same as an air conditioner. This is what I assumed was going on with this unit when I saw the mediocre star rating. But this "cooler" really does deserve a poor rating. I live in the perfect place for evaporative coolers- the Arizona desert- and I just wanted to cool a 10x15 shed to a tolerable temperature, not looking for 72 degrees by any means. I tried it out the day I got it. It was already 105° and 9% humidity so I was excited that this would make a difference. I set it up, verified the pump was working and the pad was getting wet, and left it going for about an hour. I came back and not only had the unit not cooled the space, but it had gone up a degree in that time. I tried again the next day starting in the morning when it was 85° and left it running all day (refilling the reservoir part way through). Made no difference. Standing in front of it, there was no discernible difference between the air coming out of the cooler and the air being blown by a regular fan and the room was no cooler than the outside. I am highly disappointed in this product.

S.i.R. HOLLiiWOOD: I am glad I got this half price. (refurbished)
It's is loud on highest settings, but only because it is moving lots of air.
it didn't do well in my 260 square foot living room. (even using lots of ice) lowered temp 5.F tops.
in my 195 square foot bedroom it was pretty good. (lots of ice) lowered the temp almost 10F
1/10 of the power consumption of an air conditioner
1/4 of the performance.
indoor temps were 84 at the most, which means if it was hotter this may have worked better.

Adam S. Caplan: I wanted to believe in this device, as I live in an area deemed "best" for evaporative coolers. Not too hot, and extremely dry. I told myself that other reviewers had unreasonable expectations, and that I would be happy with a temperature drop of a few degrees, and some flowing air...
I ran the unit for about 6 hours in the main room of my house, and it provided some cool air. I wanted to make sure the filter was soaked, and the unit had some break-in time. I moved it to the room for which it was purchased, which may be 300sqf..., though I imagine it's closer to 250sqf... The ambient outside temperature was 82F, and the room was 77F at the time I started. On level 3 fan, with the "cool" feature active (light was on), and the tank full of water and 96 oz by volume of ice, the digital temperature on the way oposite the unit read 77F after 3 hours of operation. I kept it on all night, and when I checked it in the morning, the room was 74F, and the outside ambient temperature was 64F.
Basically, didn't work at all. I have a plain fan I have been using for this room that works much better. It's going back tomorrow.

Amazon Customer: I bought this unit, it came on time and was easy to set up but it is nothing more than a glorified fan. I tested it on two very hot days and it actually turned out to make the apartment warmer. I did everything I could to give this unit a fighting chance. I filled it with ice cold water, had blocks of ice in the container and even went as far as to put the honeycomb filter in the freezer. None of these seemed to make very much of a difference.

LB Local: I read a lot of reviews before deciding to buy this unit. I was baffled at first by the range of responses, from "this is a piece of junk," to "this kept me very cool." Only a few people mentioned where they were writing from and what the humidity was where they lived. This made me wonder if humidity was the issue for the naysayers, since (as I've learned), it's the combination of humidity and heat that's so crucial to a swamp cooler working or not. Where I live (a block from the beach in Long Beach, CA) there is so much coastal humidity that I didn't think it would help much, but I decided it was worth a try because this red New Air is by far the most attractive of all the AC's and swamp coolers out there.
As I expected, it didn't work all that well, given the humidity, but it's just so darn cute that I decided to keep it. The temperature/humidity chart you'll find in this link (when you scroll down) is very helpful: http://www.air-n-water.com/evaporative-cooler-size.htm. The chart is accurate. If it's 95 degrees with 25% humidity, based on my experience I'd guess the New Air cooler would probably give you about 20 degrees of cool, per the chart. But if it's 85 out with...

Zagzig: I received this cooler about a week ago and the reviews I read didn't help much because no one has taken the time to explain to new buyers how this thing works. You fill it ip with cold water. The air that blows out is about the same temperature as the water and it takes quite a while to cool a room because the new air (no pun intended) coming from the unit hits the warm air in the room and warms up. As the water warms up in the room, the air blowing out also warms up. How effective is it? As long as the water is cool it will blow some cooler air but do n to expect this to replace an A/C unit. This thing helps a bit, but nothing great. I would strongly recommend an actual A/C unit over this thing. It's performance at cooling you off on a hot day is marginal at best.

PastorCheryl Barnes: I have a double size bedroom and it's perfect year round. I can use it as a fan or a potable cooler with water. It will cool my large living room also. My home is old so the air conditioner doesn't always reach everywhere. It has casters also for easy moving. The last one I bought leaked a little and I didn't realize until after return date. In a tiny pool with a towel under it until I can seal it.
