Amazon Customer: This book needs a refresher

Adam McClendon: This book was a gift for a friend. He is in a group where men discuss their life choices and try to get down to the bottom of their self-destructive ways. He as greatly improved himself using the tools gained in that group. This book was one of the books they were reading to assist themselves to better sell-discovery.

BK: Do not wait to read this book. I waited to long before looking for help and this book is incredibly important and beneficial.

Anthony Wakefield: Goes into detail describing the many kinds of issues men with extreme anger issues faces. I found thou it talks more about the issues then providing actual solutions. Found it hard to relate to as a lot of the examples are extreme ; ie : hitting people, domestic volence, road rage etc.

Also bought the dummies guide to anger management and found that to be more relevant and useful. This isn’t bad book, but it’s not for everyone.

Amazon Kunde: I bought this book after I almost destroyed a relationship through my anger outbursts and I can tell ya right now: Every guy should read this book at least once in his life. Golden. Helps any guy to be more happy. If you like this one I also recommend "no more mr nice guy"

Mr. David S. Byrne: This is a brilliant book for anger. The author having gone through anger himself writes with a no nonsense attitude making this an uncomfortable read but it's only uncomfortable as what he is saying is the truth , which is what we need , if you didn't buy this book for the truth and nothing but truth then why on earth did you buy this book ? I'm sorry guy's but sometimes allowing ourselves to be vulnerable is a sign of strength and real masculinity not a weakness like you've been programmed to believe , read this to find out what a real man is... You won't regret it and plus what else have you got to lose ? Because lets face it if you carry on with self destructive anger you are more likely to end up being alone anyway with nothing to lose...

The Brown Family: I learned very maladaptive anger responses from an alcoholic father and grandfather. Both were verbally abusive.

And I am an excellent learner.

I finally decided to stop trashing my relationships - which in the end are the only things of real value we have in this world.

I decided I had had enough of my horrible behavior after a big nasty blow up in an attorney office where I was verbally abusive to people (including family members) who were actually trying to help me.

This was the first of five top books on anger management on Amazon I read starting here. The beginning of the book is like no other I have read.

Counselor Harbin explained to me, through his writings, the high probability I faced of ending life alone if I did not change. Nothing I have ever read brought that horrifying possibility home like this book.

For that motivation alone I give this technical literary piece five stars.

I knew things were different after reading this book when my wife asked how she could help. I explained to her that should could not.

"You do not have to change. I do." I said.

This book made me see that truth in a visceral...

Ron Tissier: Paperback went as a gift to a friend and the kindle version to read for myself. All of us feel anger at some point in our lives; but I have a very dear friend that has significant issues with anger to the point of putting holes in walls, doors, and a painting hanging on a wall. Anger and frustration that lead to his incarceration on charges of assault. I mistakenly thought it was schizophrenia; but it was not and has been professionally diagnosed as "Anger Management Issues". In reading my own copy online, I have come across examples that have been identical to his experiences. The author writes both from personal experience and as a professional counselor. My gift copy will hopefully aid a friend in his awareness of his problem and provide a way out of his personal difficulties. For me it was an educational experience to focus my personal awareness of an issue for which I had a lack of understanding. It has proven beneficial for me and I can recommend it to others.

Franklin1940Franklin1940: I have not read the entire book. Who does anymore? How many of you will even read to the end of this short review?? [I challenge you!]
Google Chrome is making us all dumber that way as documented by Nicholas Carr in the Atlantic Monthly in July 2008.

However, this review is of Thomas Harbin's excellent book and the headings of chapter 9 alone show its quality. Chapter 9 is on part TWO "Anger Action Plans" and headed "Keep the garbage out"; the subheadings are about letting go of your distorted thinking: mind-reading, black and white thinking, overgeneraliztion, selective abstractions - like focusing only on negatives, catastrophizing = exaggerating small things into BFDs,
and emotional reasoning = I feel it therefore it is the TRUTH! There is much much more to be explored in this fine paperback.

God knows I have found women doing these acts just as much as men.
I was married twofold times and dated scores of women in between the diva and the goody 2 shoes, my two wives.
I found less of it in Europe where I lived two years than here.
I went to shrinks for 40 years and am now free of them as well.

Harbin is a traditional publishing type PhD...
