S. mallard: When I was a child (I'm now 65) my grandmother made a relish called mustard pickle. It had basically the same ingredients as this chow chow. Love the taste of this stuff. It has a sweet flavor. No heat. Just a little twang that is perfect. Good consistency. Much to my dismay the local store that was selling it for $2.99 a jar went out of business. Now I'm having to WAY over pay for it. Perfect topping for peas, beans, or anything you'd normally eat a relish with. I may have to dig out the old recipe and try a batch.
