Moen Flo Smart Water Shutoff Valve: 3/4-Inch Automatic Shutoff for Home Plumbing Safety

Chuck T: it's a good product, we've just had to replace it (internal parts exposed to the water failed, i think it was a gear or something as it kept grinding and would not shut off) it was replaced under warranty free of charge by moen on year 2. i wasnt too beat up about it, it did last 2 years but it's an expensive component. Moen replaced free of charge which is great. the tech support was pretty on top of it and helped diagnose pretty quickly. i had some weird software issues (like prior to my replacement it was detecting pretty accurately, now everything is listed as "the hose" or something. leak tests performed every night have been flawless and my water pressure is detected well (as well as temperature) so i will continue to use it. it was super easy to install although i have a fair amount of experience (engineer) so time will tell. i could definitely recommend the product

Xxx: This product does not integrate with Alexa. Tried to reinstall their app, but when I scan the QR code on the device, I receive an error message. I've made several attempts to contact support and they insist they have fixed the bugs, but they have not. They gave me a phone number to call for support, but that number is not in service. The Moen app has a different number, but that just keeps ringing. Not worth the hassle. There are better alternatives out there

McAlpineMcAlpine: Brilliant device. Found out that our sailing clubhouse is running an average of 84psi with high's of up to 92psi. Also found out we have a small leak (still have not located). Excellent software and installation is pretty straightforward as long as you are comfortable cutting into watermain. Only downside of software is that only one email address can be added. Would be nice to be able to send to multiple emails instead. Don’t forget that you will need ac power nearby, an easy way to mount powerpack and some connections to hook up to your pipe work.

A. Banner: Having recently experience a plumbing flood, this product is exactly what I needed. Provides me with the security that I will be much less likely to experience another plumbing failure that will result n significant damage. Unit works as promised and the cell phone app is very useful. Expensive and requires a plumber to install but I do get a small discount on my insurance policy premium.

After finding out about this device from a few of my companies (and a few of those even give discounts on insurance for having the device installed), I, my parents, and one of my business partners decided to give it a shot and have the device installed on our homes. I definitely wouldn't say it was an easy process. While most of the instructional videos on YouTube indicated that the device should be installed at the supply line to the water heater (located in our garages) were all told by our plumbers that the device should actually be installed outside on the main water line because there it would be able to monitor the entire water supply to the house and not just to the water heater and plumbing fixtures fed by the water heater, which made sense. Installing it outside, however, also required an electrician to install a waterproof junction box for the power supply to the device. Amazon Customer: After experiencing $80K in water damage from a failed RO system in our kitchen while away for a weekend, we purchased the Flo by Moen to hopefully mitigate that problem in the future. The the Flo by Moen shutoff valve is installed by the main water valve that enters the house and runs an algorithm that analyses water flow, pressure and temperature to determine if there is a problem with your system. In addition, it is initially in "learn" mode for a period of time to learn normal water usage trends. The system is easily configurable to send alarm notification to a phone and/or shut off the main valve if abnormal water system usage or system dynamics are detected. In addition to the analytics provided by the Flo by Moen valve, we also purchased 6 wireless water sensors that can be placed in strategic spots around the home to sense water, such as by the hot water tank, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge water supply and others. These remote sensors easily configure into the Flo by Moen application to send alarms and/or shutoff the Flo by Moen valve for added protection.

RGL: The Moen Flo was easy to install using Pex to brass fittings. Dummy straight-through piece made fitting the Pex pieces easier.

The system is online and working well. I used my irrigation system for the first time in awhile and the sensor sent me an alarm to my phone and a phone call as well. It was easy to override the warning.

My system doesn’t have a pressure reduction valve so I suspect that as the city pressure fluctuates then the sensor detects this as water flow. I can see the sensor detect flow when there is no water fixtures in use. The Sensor seems to work regardless of this water pressure issue. There is limited room to install a PRV before the sensor but the Flo software does have an option to install the PRV after the sensor. I may try that but I like the higher water pressure. It is just on the upper limits for normal water pressure.

R. PrecourtR. Precourt: I've heard about these for a while and thought it would be a nice thing to have, but never actually bought one, until now. After our neighbor's house flooded for the second time I thought it might be a good idea to have this, since all of these houses were built by the same builder. If they're having that many problems it could be a matter of time before we do as well, as both times their house was severely damaged.

I'm not a plumber but have basic skills and had no problems installing the Flo valve. I used a 2" nipple between the Flo and our water filter and a shark bite on the other side to connect into our PEX pipe that comes off the PRV. It took less than an hour to install.

Setup was simple and instructions were easy to follow. It took an hour or so for it to realize that it was installed, and then took another week or so to 'learn' our usage habits. Right after installation I began getting real-time data on flow rate, pressure, temperature, and gallons used. The data is pretty cool, but historical data is extremely limited.
