Excellent vacuum cleaner - works equally well on carpet and wood floors. Lightweight and maneuverable. Made in Germany and the quality shines through. Quick and easy to change attachments, which is very convenient as our house has multi-levels with carpeted stairs, and different floor surfaces on each level. It is easy to switch from the Seb 228 Electro+ power brush (for carpets) to the parquett-3 hard floor nozzle for hardwood floors and ceramic as well as the stairs. I bought this vacuum at a great sales price from Amazon and was prepared to wait as it was temporarily out of stock, but in fact the vacuum was delivered to me a month sooner than the estimated delivery date, which meant I received it within two weeks of my order. I see that the purchase price has gone up a few hundred dollars since I bought it in May, 2018. Other excellent features of this vacuum are the Hepa filter and the sealed disposable bags. With three cats in the house and a family member suffering from allergies I don't want to be emptying out the accumulated debris from the canister, which I had to do with my Dyson vacuum. Miele will not honour any warranty on this model in Canada, because they say it is only meant for the USA marketplace. Why has it been on amazon.ca since November of 2017 (possibly even earlier) and why is it still available at present day?

Much more "compact" than I expected, but I've used big Kenmore canisters over the years. This little unit has a lot of power and cleans very well without much noise. Our dogs are not barking like crazy while this is turned on. Very pleased.

The build quality and materials of this machine really are almost proportionately better (especially at sale prices) than that of well-reviewed uprights that cost less than $150--that is, the Miele *is* almost three times the machine that a discount upright is. I am not a hater of such machines, and I am acquainted with Shark models, which are really impressive, when new--but even then the quality of their fittings, hoses, and plastics seem suspect and potentially fragile. And while it may seem retrograde to use bags, it really isn't. This was actually an assumption I had to get over: "isn't the removable cup easier and more convenient than bags"? Shark recommends that its dirt cup (which will contain lots of fine, floating dust, etc.) be emptied after every use. The bag of a Miele needs changing, under moderate use, *seasonally*. The more compelling reason to appreciate Miele's bag technology is that it isolates dust from the vac's mechanical systems. Shark is somewhat better than some "cyclonic," exposed-cup vacs, but they all swirl dirt and dust about an exposed filter that needs to be cleaned (often), and dirt and dust may still get into the ...

In case someone is interested, I did find a way to vacuum up a mess like that without any apparent damage to my Miele c2 electro+. But please dont try to use the motorized head on the Miele for this purpose. Instead I used one of the attachments that came with the Miele C2 electro+. I deliberately chose a tool with a very small inlet to use, that way if there were any clogging it would happen right at the entrypoint and would be easy to dislodge.
